Hey Woke Fam!
We finally harvested our 3 garlic varieties this month 🧄 🙌🏾!
Unfortunately, we did get quite a few split garlic due to lots of moisture from the rain and late harvesting. Nevertheless, NOT ALL IS LOST!
This garlic is still good to use and believe us.... We're Gonna Use 'Em!!!
We hope this was informative and enjoyable to you all! Let us know what garlic varieties you have grown or hope to grow in your garden!

Thanks for this! You are growing fabulous garlic, your bulbs are way bigger than other videos I watch!!! I really appreciate that you talked about what group the varieties are in, not just the old hard neck and softneck simplification! I reckon you are doing everything right to get garlic like that! Up here I grow all hard neck varieties including Porcelain, Rocombole, and True Purple Stripe. I generally like to pick when there are four or five green leaves remaining, as green leaves represent the number of intact wrappers around the bulbs.

Thank you so much for the reassurance! We’re glad it was informative - there are lots of garlic varieties out there, so it’s always good to know which variety is most fitting for your interests and environment! Our hardneck garlic performed very well, so we’ll definitely be growing some more next season!! Of the varieties that you grow, do you have a favorite or favorites based on taste and size? We’d love to try different varieties. Thank again for watching and happy growing!!! Thanks for the harvesting tip as well!

@@WokeRemnantGardening My favourite for taste is in the Rocombole group, the variety is called Spanish Roja. Spanish Roja is often considered the finest tasting garlic of them all and is the garlic all others are judged by! It peels more easily than most other varieties, its down side is that it doesn’t store all that well so most people eat it first. My favourite garlic for size is in the Porcelain group, it’s called Big Boy. The bulbs of Big Boy are huge, even bigger than Music!

@WhatWeDoChannel Thank you so much for the suggestions!!! We’ve never heard of those before, and you’re description has us invested now lol. They sound delicious - we’ll definitely consider them for future growing seasons! Porcelain types seem to be one of the better options for size and storage, so they’re going to stay in our rotation! Hopefully we’ll be able to test out Big Boy soon!

I love this video. First garlic one I watched that added the information about type, history, etc. while you were digging. Very informative and fun to watch. I just harvested my first garlic three days ago. I had never done it before and made the mistake of sticking a few sunchokes in the same container, (an old leaky horse trough), so the chokes took over and I forgot about the garlic. I was a bit late in harvesting also but am so thrilled with what I got. I am peeling a few heads of it now to put in with my dill pickles. I do not know what kind it is though cuz I bought it from a bin on the side of the road last August. Zone 5B, I do think it was at least labeled Hard neck. Thanks for sharing your experiences!!

We’re very glad you enjoyed the video! We believe it’s important to provide details about plant types and varieties to let people know that there are lots of options available to grow and consume - so many flavors to choose from, and some grow better in specific regions! We’ve never grown sunchokes before, but we heard they’re delicious! Would love to try some one day. Also, dill pickles with garlic sounds amazing! We’re most likely going to pickle some of our garlic as well. Never had pickled garlic, but it doesn’t hurt to try! Thank you for watching and happy growing!!!

@@WokeRemnantGardening Thank you for your kind response. BTW, My family loves pickled garlic. If you make dill pickles, throw in a few cloves so you can try it before making a whole batch. Bur honestly? Garlic in any form, what’s not to love?

We would love to plant elephant garlic one day. It rained very heavy in our area as well which delayed harvesting for our soft neck garlic. Hopefully you have a great harvest of your Music garlic!
