Splitting a huge Gum tree for fire wood. how easy should it be?

I love the video. I am about to tackle one of these with an 8lb. maul, though nothing over 12" diameter. I think I will buck to wood stove length to save my body the torture.

Burns pretty well when dry. The stringiness behaves like built in kindling in a lit fire.

It will do that. I have noticed it will not warm the room quite as much as other hard woods though.

@@philthelawnman Just a gnarly, twisty wood. The seed pods are the worst to walk on...like being on roller skates.

@@philthelawnmanAustralia and a couple neighbouring islands are the only places with eucalyptus gums. And Australia has the most, with 800 native species. Is this a sweet gum? Thats the only American tree I can find with “gum” in the name

It is a sweet gum or gum ball. The sap was used to produce actual chewing gum once in America.
