Great job Tom! That kind of work is not for the faint of heart - young or old! After swinging heavy splitting mauls & hammers , soup beans taste like strawberries! 😂😅😅

Those rounds are at least 6" too long. Most of that is straight grained, so a shorter log with a maul and you are in business. I just split two faces yesterday and the wood was dry. Some needed a second strike, but most went on the first blow. I had more trouble with the maple than the locust.

I'm also in WNC. The locust is prized wood but boy it can be hard to split or cut when its dry. It wont get done by itself so might as well pick a way every day. Thanks for the video.
