I'm making an offer on a little cabin in Murphy and may be moving there soon--I will see. I'm not all that familiar with the area. Are there parts of Murphy to stay away from? Would sure appreciate any advice you feel comfortable in providing.

@@kimashley112 oh, nice! Honestly, I haven't spent time there since I live in Orlando fulltime but we did end up in a piece of property there at the time that I've spent in the area, I wouldn't really say that there's a bad area, just some less developed parts!

Bought a cabin west of town about 20 miles in 2019 to escape the craziness of our permanent residence Panama City Beach. Fl. Call ourselves reverse Snow Birds and stay there from the end of May till mid October !! What a great place .. people are down to earth and friendly !! In 4 yrs haven't met one jerk !! I think I am like most folks who come up from out of state when I say " Keep it like it is Now ..Never Change !!"

Hiwassee is a river that originates in GA and runs through NC and on into TN, then flows into the Tennessee River. Hiawassee is a town in north GA.

Love Murphy! You should have gone out to the Fields of Wood while you were there. It's especially awesome during the fall leaf change season. I love these small towns in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I don't know what other towns you've visited, but Hayesville is right next to Murphy. There are lots of small towns that I like there, all are headed east from Murphy. Cherokee, Maggie Valley, Hendersonville (lots of wineries in this area), Franklin, Black Mountain, Marshall, Burnsville (home of Mt Mitchell-the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi), Spruce Pine (one of the few remaining Western Sizzlin's is here. LOL), Banner Elk, Asheville (if you want to include a larger city in the mix.@@SplorinRyan

I lived in Murphy,NC for 20 years.a lot of stores close early there.some things have changed since I lived there but most is still there.Everyone waves at one another there and I got use to doing it but noticed after I moved it isn’t very common in other places.It is so strange to see bars and liquor ice cream stores in Murphy.For years it was a no liquor town.The only thing you could buy in Murphy was wine and wine coolers.we had to go to Andrews the next town over to get beer or liquor.
