He definitely is like our NWA and stuff like that. Growing up in AZ as a Mexican American child being called "Taco Bell" or like having teachers yell in our face "speak english!" definitely made us a little shyer about our heritage and like with no real sense of having pride in our culture because to live here you have to adapt and soak in the American culture. So when I first came into contact with his music, was the first time I really had someone showing me brown pride. Telling us to be proud of our race. Like 2pac and Biggie and them are legends but they were definitely geared more towards African Americans and being proud to be black but Chicano rap was really more about brown pride and showing love to our raza/race

Whtz good bro to answer your question yes he was i think our person that had tht potential to make it mainstream he has right there it to theres was other Mexicans doing it before but he had the ability to completely cross over with his style. lets keep it 100 alot of Mexican rappers will only mke it so far because there style not mainstream but this nigga had im from texas San Antonio to be exact and i first started listen to sp back whn he had mixtapes on cassette tapes tht they would come down and sell at the flea market aka swap meet if yall dont knw wht i mean lol i had his first ever tape its the album where his thinner and hes standing alone with fire all around him with two chains on the sides of him theres a song called "Revenge" on there and if you followed him he later says tht song was the first he ever officially wrote. Just alil FYI and anything thing wanna knw just hmu i grew up on his shit ..... #SUBSCRIBE

Honestly man the ones who paved the way for us hispanics is Kid Frost, Lighter Shade Of Brown, & Brownside, then SPM. But most of those artist came up in the late 80's to late 90's. Some still around, As of today the number one selling hispanic artist that we say is like our tupac is Mr.Criminal, he got signed in 2001
@crimefamily6198 жыл бұрын
MrCriminal films his own music videos, movies, & produces his own music & drops 3 albums a year bacl to back the last 16 years, no mix tapes 15+ tracks an album & never flip flops & between all that run his clothing company successfully! Research his discography. He just released "Latin With Attitude" album feat. Lil Eazy E two months ago, already dropping another album tomorrow "PalmTrees&Sunsets"
@crimefamily6198 жыл бұрын
+Mark Delgado when criminal was signed he signed with "Hi Power Entertainment" & has been loyal to the label since, refused many major deals & even refused a deal from 50 cent a few years ago, everyone from fans to other artist wanted criminal to leave hi power & do his own thing because he is so talented & deserved & earned his own movement & his own label. Surprisingly just a few weeks ago he announced after 16 years he will be leaving hi power to began his own label which is "CrimeFamilyEntertainment" & this will be his first album on his own label that drops tomorrow 2/4/17 palm trees & sunsets
@crimefamily6198 жыл бұрын
+Mark Delgado check out the billboards, criminal is there with a handful of albums & hes all underground, no radio play. Criminal produced many bone thugs n harmony albums, 3 of them were even signed to hi power for a few years too. Owner of hi power is another hispanic rapper named MrCapone-E which is the one who signed criminal. CaponeE's a whole other story but also talented too, it just time for criminal to respectfully do his own thing.

It has alot of freestyles and good songs. Listen to Screwed up Tape (throwback to Eazy E) , Latola (very chill Melody), and the Beach House ( probably SPM's best freestyle)!

being from Houston and listening to Latin rap my whole life. SPM basically put the south on the map for Latin rap. I can't say the SPM was the first overall Latin rapper because you did have the Latin rap game in California with kid frost. But in the south SPM put everyone on the map. and was the one of the first rappers from houston to get a major record deal. But also in the local houston rap game there were other Latin rappers the SPM looked up too like Grimm and aggravated/the most hated. which eventually would all the signed to the dope house label. (well not all of them) but the Latin rap game kind of fell of when SPM got locked up. but we still holding it down now with rappers like Dat Boi T, lucky, and his daughter has dropped some videos too. it ain't gonna stop!! they tried but won't stop 🤘🤘🤘🤘
