Sold here is truly a treasure: A rare barn/garage find 1961 V 200 4-door sedan with 4263 original miles.
The car was purchased new in 1961 by a Senior lady in Oxnard, California at the dealer Bailey Motors, (Plymouth - DeSoto - Valiant). She drove the car for two years and passed-away in 1963. Last registered in 1964, the car was subsequently parked in a windowless garage where it has remained for the last 53 years. Recently discovered, the car was removed from the garage by a neighbor. The garage where it was stored was a stand-alone building not attached to a rental house so it was rarely if ever opened in all those years.
Please note: The car now has both a current California title and CA registration with all fees paid up-to-date.
The vehicle sits on the original Good Year tires that remarkably hold air. The new spare is even intact. All paint is in fantastic condition with the exception of a shallow dent on the hood. Most all the chrome is wonderful with some shallow pitting/clouding noticed in minor areas.
The photos in this ad have not been altered or enhanced in any manner. They speak volumes for the outstanding original condition of this car.
The interior shows as-new. All upholstery is exceptional. I doubt anyone ever sat in the back seat. The dash, instrument panel and gauges, steering wheel, door panels, headliner and carpets are extraordinary. The trunk is perfect with the vinyl mat cardboard over the spare and the tire jack all in prime original condition.
The current owner removed and restored the gas tank and installed new lines with a new fuel pump. All fluids have been changed plus new hoses installed. Replaced the water pump and thermostat. The original battery was replaced with a new unit. The entire brake system has been gone through. Powered by a straight six motor, the engine starts and runs fantastic. The push-button automatic transmission shifts great. The car has been barely driven due to the weathered condition of the original tires plus not wanting to put extra miles on the odometer.
If you are seeking a true time-capsule collector car you have located your vehicle. This is a museum quality example of a 1960's period Plymouth.
For additional information please phone Dave Henry at 805 705-4924.

I had a childhood friend that had one of these. It was a 2 door, he bought it for 75 bucks off his uncle. It wasn't exactly a show car, but it was original with the standard slant 6 with the only option being dealer installed AC. Don't think they came factory with that but we went everywhere in that thing. It just didn't die. Good old fashion mopar

First car I ever had. Bought in 1967. As a kid this was a great car getting 20- 23 mpg on regular gas. Collect some change from my buddys and cruise for chicks all night. 29 cents a gallon back then. Dated a gal back then. Plenty of room in the back seat at the drive in. If that seat could talk. Those cars rusted badly here in Pa. and you can't find them here to restore for years now. Definately a cool Exner design. Stood apart. Many people either loved them or hated the design. I've been an old Mopar fan ever since. My Exner car now is a 56 Dodge 2 dr. hard top.

I have the same car as this one only mine has two doors and it was manufactured in 1961 in America. I bought it in 1982 and it was in poor condition. I repaired it for almost a year so I could drive it. memories and a lot of miles traveled. Given that there was a war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was parked for almost 15 years, after which I re-trained it for driving. The upper two balls, located on the carriage and the lower two balls, which connect the torsion and the wheel sleeve. If anyone reads this, would I ask him to help me get it? Beautiful Valiant. I have a `61 V200 hardtop coupe that sat 38 years. Still had `76 plates on it when I got it. Read 21K+ miles then. I've put 4K on it since. Your white one has the optional carpeting and padded dash that mine lacks.

my Mom had a light blue one with 3 on the floor. I learned to drive in it. My Dad a had a Plymouth Sports Fury...red and convertible so that was my car of choice ...if I had a choice. Now I look back and realize what a great car the Valiant was. I'd buy one in a second if I could find one like this.

WOW reminds Me of my Dad's 61' Valiant. I never seen original condition. He cut it in half making it a two-door. The driveshaft was biggest issue. He put Cadillac flat headlights, a Camaro front end suspension. He cut out fenderwells in engine compartment. The little 6 cylinder came out, put a big 440, dual carbs. The only original of interior was the Dashboard, totally rewired. Push buttons long gone. The only way to tell what it use to be was that tail end. Trunk lid and tail lights always great. He spent 30yrs with it. He finally put a small block 350 and sold $20k. Last we heard, it was wrecked-out. Part of a childhood, I always wondered on the trunk release was in the Back windshield area where Speakers were, There was a Pull Knob to Open Trunk Lid. If that was original design? This Car above such a beauty. Original price, compared today

I would pay the original cost in today's money value. nada price guide says 9700 is high retail but is a new car still and original cost in today's money would be $18, 000. @ $2,100 in 1960. so maybe 20,000 would be ok for this car.

I know I’m in the minority but I remember one of these cars when I was young in the town where my mother’s parents lived. I was born in 1970. Even back then I thought it was the ugliest car I’d ever seen. Today I see more of the detail but I still don’t like it. However, I can appreciate it as a fine example of the period and attention to detail cars today no longer have.
