SpongeBob is right. Since they all found the treasure together, everyone deserves an equal share. It's the first rule of the Pirate's Code. Variations of this rule varied from one captain to the next, but overall made sure that everyone got paid. Here's an example by captain Bartholomew "Black Bart" Roberts: "Every man has a vote in affairs of moment; has equal title to the fresh provisions, or strong liquors, at any time seized, and may use them at pleasure, unless a scarcity (not an uncommon thing among them) makes it necessary, for the good of all, to vote a retrenchment." Krabs would be in violation of this rule and SpongeBob and Patrick were in the right for demanding equal share and it would be grounds for mutiny. The result for Krabs would most likely be him either marooned or killed, despite him being captain.
