Most of the tracks in the GBA version have vibrato, but the GBA can’t play it correctly, so that’s why it sounds like a twisted hellspawn. The HQ version has a proper vibrato.

I think I would call this a tremolo, or maybe a shake. :) Also, happy Thanksgiving (depending on when you read this) EDIT: Due to enraged comments and a second reading, I feel it necessary to clarify, I would consider this to be closer to a tremolo than a vibrato being as the extent/variability in pitch is substantially greater than a semitone. That being said, there isn't a music theory consensus as to whether or not a vibrato is no longer a vibrato should the extent be greater than semitone between the original pitch. However, I want to apologize to anyone who might be offended by my comment. My intent is not to correct anyone, but to, rather, give my own small musical analysis. I hope this edit clears up any misinterpretations...

I have a background in musical performance, so I tend to think deeply about these things. But if "twisting" sounds better to you, so be it. Let us henceforth know these strange sounds as twisting.
