Little fun fact: The reason why both Sonic Drive-In tie-in games have "Wacky" in their titles is because that word was used a lot in the restaurant's overall branding at the time. As someone who grew up going there on occasion(still do actually), those names were definitely familiar.

9:02 that leads me to believe this game is British because you take your GCSE exams in high school

What's your all time favorite SpongeBob web game?
@lucililium2 ай бұрын
Hard to say. The ones that made the biggest impact on me personally were Lava King, the Big Adventures games and the lost game builder. Nowadays, I'd probably say Atlantis SquarePantis Square-Off or Mission Through Time.

@lucililium I personally like Boo or Boom, Sandy's Shrubbery Shakedown, and Poop Deck Draw Down. Just to name the ones I remember as my favorites. It's sad that we're close to the end of the web game series though. At least we have plenty more web games to check out such as Chowder, Total Drama, Camp Lazlo, the Powerpuff Girls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the rest of the Fairly OddParents games. Also, I recall you having an old friend mentioning Mr. Men games. I'd love to see a video about those. Especially since some of those games I played are now lost media

This might be nostalgia talking, but Ship O Ghouls might be my personal favorite SpongeBob Flash Game. The stakes are kinda high for such a flash game too, considering that SpongeBob needs to avoid drying up!

7:02 Wacky Roller Race mention! Also yeah, Wacky Underwater Adventure was a mini-game collection but none of the game files were on the Wayback Machine so that game is forever lost. Wacky Roller Race was fully archived though so that's how it's on Flashpoint. It took me 3 hours to manually download the files and add them to the right folders but it was worth it to see it on Flashpoint.

I'd love to see a video at some point judging SB games purely from a story perspective. You can do this from both a sillier perspective(like imagining the plot of half the flash games as episodes is kind of absurd), but also a more direct approach. While I'm not sure if it's super important, something I noticed is that both Revenge of the Flying Dutchman and The Yellow Avenger make a strong effort to maintain character continuity. In Battle for Bikini Bottom and a lot of other games you run into things like Squidward being both bandaged at the bottom of Jellyfish Fields and being in his house at the same time, or Miss Puff both managing the evacuation in Downtown and looking for the stolen art in Rock Bottom. This can also cause weird stuff elsewhere, like for example End of the Line was the last BFBB spatula mission I did(I suck at collectibles), so Miss Puff was able to finally open up to roads and evacuate everyone...after the robots had been defeated and literally everything else was done. Yeah doesn't make sense. Revenge of the Flying Dutchman solves this by having important characters move places once they're done where they are. Compare Squidwards chaotic 'everything' day in BFBB to Patrick's day in ROTFD: He wakes up right before SpongeBob and finds his TV his broken. He waits outside for Spongebob to come out and has him fix it. Then he decides it's too nice a day out to watch TV all day and say's he's going downtown to check out the new building construction. A couple hours later SpongeBob meets him there, gets him his lunch, and they mess around with Mermaidman outfits. Patrick gets seen by Robot Krabs and Plankton recruits him to ruin the delivery operation. SpongeBob catches him, follows Patrick back home, stops Plankton. Jellyfish fields comes up in the conservation and Patrick mentions wanting to go there and needing a ticket, and a bit later after you find a ticket you meet up with Patrick there and play. Then he heads home for the evening and gets taken by the Dutchman, being found on his ship at the end game. There, simple, linear, and direct. I couldn't even try to sequence break it, if you skip meeting him for the Mermaidman suit(which you can do for quite a while, only two tiles require it, a target challenge in Chum World and the molten bolts parkour in Downtown) he straight up doesn't spawn in Jellyfish fields. Way different from how BFBB handled it. The Yellow Avenger takes a slightly different approach, the game is split between 5 Acts and each one takes place on a different day(It's meant to be like an old radio show or serial, think Superman or Clutch Cargo. One episode a day with the conclusion on Friday, fits the theme), so important characters sometimes change spots between days. Patrick and Sandy notably switch every single Act. Patrick on a fresh save file is at the entrance of Jellyfish Fields while by Act 5 he's in Kelp Forest. This solves the same issue. In combination with the super power pads(which require specific abilities to activate that you only gain at the end of Acts) this helps keep you from getting late game quests early(which the notable exception of a Sandy Quest, I think they screwed up there). This is also a good way to control the pacing without adding a ton of locations. Several spots in game are segmented and can only be fully explored later(Jellyfish Fields and Goo Lagoon are both relevant in Act 1, but neither can be fully explored. Once you get to Act 2 you can explore a lot more of them, but not quite fully. By Act 3 you can explore all of Goo Lagoon and almost all of Jellyfish Fields except for the very back which contains the entrance to Kelp Forest and isn't opened til Act 4.) This is also how the game keeps from overwhelming the player at the start of the game. You have plenty of map unlocked to start with, BUT you only get your first super power ability(the water ball) after completing the first quest and talking to Patrick, so you can't get past the water gates til after this(on DS, on PSP it's bugged and you have the water ball immediately). You have two quests when the games launches, reach Jellyfish Fields and reach Goo Lagoon. You're in Downtown so you have to walk a bit to reach either. The former gets you to Patrick and starts you on the main quest thread, the latter is pointless for now, but either way this gives the player time to explore the map a bit and pick up some side quests.

I just played Sketch It: Guess It. And I beat it too. The part where I had to sketch SpongeBob reminded me that I used to draw SpongeBob in the early 2000s.

The frame of Mr. Krabs being whacked in Bikini Bottom Bop-‘Em is reused from Plankton’s Army when Planktom flushes the toilet with him inside it, also it’s a good thing that while you while talking about Firey Fist of Pain 2 you didn’t bring up…. well, you know.

Bikini Bottom Brawlers is kinda hilarious in hindsight given the release of Nick-All Star Brawl, considering that it's basically Super Smash Bros. with SpongeBob characters.
@keith21962 ай бұрын
Bikini Bottom Bop ‘Em is really interesting, because it strongly reminds me of an iOS game called Bop ‘N’ Bash, which I played long ago and can’t find now! It was also whack-a-mole inspired, with lots of different characters each with their own ways of being defeated (for example, a blob that needs to be squeezed with two fingers, and a balloon that needs to be tapped many times so it can inflate and fly away). I wonder if it’s a coincidence, or if there was some inspiration going on

I honestly don't blame Plankton for being bummed out at the prize because I would get tired of carnival rides by the end of the day.
