You can take some surprising shots to the lower face, but anything in the middle will just vaporize your whole crew.

From the research I’ve done The commanders who disliked the M18 tended to misuse them Attempting to use them like the soviets would use their TD’s or as the Germans would use their panthers The M18 was always meant as a flanking tool, its mobility and light weight meant it could attack from locations that the enemy just didn’t expect The M18 was loved by the men who used them properly, and the vehicle had a fantastic career, with hundreds of Panzer 4’s and Stug 3’s and 4’s destroyed The battle of Arracourt was a great example of the effectiveness of the M18 hellcat 3 M18’s were lost to 14 Panzer 4’s All the while being outnumbered The m18 was incredibly effective up to the panther and tiger 1 But those were rare on the western front And even more so, rare that they wouldn’t have an opportunity to flank the enemy All in all, it has a decorated history, kinda muddied by commanders who Ill understood the weapons they were given

I read very similar stuff about the M18. I also read that tankers knew that regardless of the tank they were engaging it was most likely able to penetrate so the lack of armor wasn’t really an issue.

M18s were intended to race to positions and prepare in reaction to an enemy attack, they were not intended to go racing around the frontlines to the flanks. Indeed, thats precisely the sort of thing you want a lot of armour for, as you will encounter AT guns around the enemy frontlines. GMCs like the M18 and M10 should be thought of as AT guns that can quickly locate themselves, not as offensive weapons in their own right

That Tiger II H whose side skirt ate your round reminded me of the first one I killed in War Thunder. It was one of my first games in the 75 Jumbo, and he pushed my position along a ridge on Normandy beach. Embracing my inner gremlin, I shot his barrel and both tracks before flanking and putting one into his ammo rack. I was laughing maniacally the entire time. Good memory.

Btw, that shot to the side of the Tiger 2 seems to be legit. I have seen many simulations of that exact scenario, and essentially, you are trying to shoot along the track overhang plate, which is why game counts nonpen. (The round would probably deflect in reality, and fuck up the track)

I watched this almost immediately after you posted it, but forgot to comment, so I'm doin it now. I love the editing Spookston and I hope to see more funny edits (please God give me metal pipe sfx) Also Spookston, as an avid Super hellcat user, I have to say that the 90 mm really helps when shooting tigers side on. Those side skirts, on both tiger 1 and tiger II, eat 76 mm like nothing if you're slightly angled, so the better penetration really helps to stop that.
