Btw, the cool thing about that region is the variety in orientation of the beaches... it's great to have 'm all pretty close by and you can search for spots which have off shore winds.

Beach breaks are trying on the whole for the reasons you outlined + rips, no channels and shifting lineups. Besides you gotta paddle like a mofo to compensate energy deficient take offs. Yet you needn't worry about aggressive fish or mammals as there are very few man eaters in the Bay of Biscay that close in even though you were a feww hundred yards out. On the upside you were pretty much alone which is a god send in that neck of the woods.

Yup. I have surfed some lonely reefs and had all kinds of "feelings" out there. Especially when you are just sitting in between sets and waiting. The mind plays tricks.

Yer paddling out in a tropical 'pass' where you don't speak the language haven't had a haircut fo tweny years and they're speaking native tongue to you in the lineup because you look the same with deep blue wọa on one side and five foot deep bath clear the other's like auditioning for JAWS too doõöd.
