to survive parasite you have to not go way too far from it, or it'll turn into the leech form im not sure how the leech form works in OG because i've only played HD but hitting any of the 2 base forms with the axe turns it into the leech and removes 1 room from the chase counter like you did here if it becomes a leech just rush to the next room if it doesnt go back to a base form after hitting you, in OG it doesnt stay in parasite form for going through rooms
