Thank you so much for committing to making virtual retreats a regular thing. I’m housebound due to chronic ill health, so virtual events are the only opportunity I have to connect with other stitchers and meet new people. This years Jingle Ball will be my first, and I can’t wait! 😊

I am so excited about 5 Virtual Events next year! Thank you so much for doing them!! My favorite costume I have ever done was as an adult I went to a church party as a pregnant Nun! I was actually pregnant. 😁 I so enjoy your light, joyful, & fun videos. It so needed these days!❤️

I don't really have a favorite costume but the most memorable was when my little brother wanted to be a mummy so he wore a white t-shirt and pants then we wrapped toilet paper all around him to make it look like the mummy rags. Everything was good until it started raining. I laughed so much-he was not pleased at all but I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING.

Hold the phone - FIVE events next year!? You guys are awesome 🤩 Loved your Kathy Barrick finish, Steph, and it was fun seeing past fall finishes. My favorite childhood costume was Pippi Longstocking - my mom bent a wire hanger and braided my hair around it so it stuck out sideways. It was incredible. Happy Monday! 💜

Hello, oh my so much goodness 😊. I want to stitch it ALL. My favorite costume as a child was dressing up as a gypsy, I had a long full red skirt with a cotton lace blouse, large colorful bead necklaces with large hoop earrings and of course the beauty mark and bandanna to complete the ensemble. Thank you for the question that brought back such fun memories. Take care and see you next time 😊

My favorite Halloween costume was when I was "Thing" from the original 1964 "The Addams Family" black and white TV show. My mom made my costume. My left arm was the thumb, right arm was the pinky. The three middle fingers where stuffed and sat above my head. The palm of the hand had life lines which were slit so I could see. And a big black box with no bottom hung off the costume. I remember it vividly. Also, my brother was "Cousin It" His costume was made of tan Hawaiian grass skirts in layers, a bowler hat and sunglasses. We were such a hit when we went out Trick or Treating.

My favorite costume as a kid was what we called a hobo. I would wear my dad’s winter coat and that was great because it was usually cold and an added bonus, it was easy to get out of when back home - which meant getting to the candy stash faster.

Omg!!!!!!! Thanks for more virtual events!!!!! I know they an be a pain for both sides sometimes but so worth it! You just made my day! My favorite Halloween costume was Phantom of the Opera when I was 20. I went to a party with the "half mask" on. After a while, people asked if I was hot and that I should take my mask off. I told them (in character) that I don't normally do that but that I would. I proceeded to take off my mask revealing my grossed out mangled right side of my face!!!!! I spent an hour making bloody scars, etc before the party! The look on people's faces upon the reveal was priceless!!!!! We all had a good laugh! Memories....

Thank you Thank you Thank you for more virtual events. I am going to an actual retreat next week but it will be the last that I will ever be able to afford. This would make me so sad if it were not for you and Jason and your crew. You folks are really adding joy and fun to the lives of those of us who cannot afford driving or flying across the country and paying hotel and retreat fees. Please know how very very much you are appreciated. And of course I already have my Jingle Ball ticket. 😀 Yes Captain! 🤣

We had to make our own costumes for Halloween when I was a kid, and which I was always terrible at, so I can't really recall any particular costume that I made or liked. However, one of our friends had a terrific costume one year. He must have been around 9 years old and took a nasty fall down the steps of a slide at the playground. Now this was back in the 70s when playground slides were made completely of metal, were well over 8 feet tall, and built right on top of the asphalt (no nice, cushioned surfaces back then). He fell down the ladder side while climbing up and face planted on the asphalt. His face was pretty banged up. So he threw on pajamas and a bathrobe, wrapped a few bandages around his head and fashioned a sling for his arm, and went trick or treating as an accident victim 😂. People were commenting on what a great job he did with his make up (black eye, split lip, multiple scratches, etc). They were horrified when we told them it wasn't make up, but actual injuries from his fall! 😂. I think your stitched piece would make a great drum (my vote), but I think if you love the whole piece so much, you should definitely frame it!

I have never celebrated Halloween as it is my Daughter's birthday. I love waiting for a nearby orchard to sell there apples and their wonderful to die for fresh apple cider. I then make homemade caramel to dip some of the apples in. This was a cherished family tradition when I was a young child. I now want to continue this tradition with my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It's just a neat way to start the fall season.

My family has been very fortunate because my mom is an excellent seamstress and has always made our Halloween costumes. She also made all of my sons (who's now 19) Halloween costumes. My favorite costume as a child was when my sister and I dressed up as 80's punk rock stars, complete with the teased hair and a can of Aquanet hairspray. My favorite Halloween costume for my son was when he was Bumblee from Transformers and could "transform" into the car version of Bumblebee and the Tranformers version of Bumblebee.

Most of my costumes as a kid were out of a box from the department store. I remember being a gypsy and Holly Hobbie. I think my favorite was when I was quite young and was a bunny. Confession time. When I saw the snowman punch needle pattern and finish, I first thought it was a duck with a bonnet on her head. So sorry!! I interpreted the carrot for a beak. My favorite Halloween costume was a pumpkin. We took one of those big plastic leaf bags that had a Jack O'Lantern face on it and cute holes for my arms and legs and then tied it at my neck after stuffing it with paper. I had an orange piece of paper with a green painted toilet paper roll on it secured to my head for my pumpkin top with stem. It was definitely hard to get in the car to visit my grandpa, but I was definitely warm for trick or treating in the cold later that night.

My favorite Halloween costume wasnt one that I wore, but what my friend wore. We went to a halloween party together and I was Pocahontas. She wore a dress and had an area in the back tucked in her underwear (which was short white bicycle shorts) and had a long piece if toilet paper coming out from the waist band. It was hilarious. When someone brought it to her attention, she would try to look behind herself and turn in circles saying “I dont see it) 😂😂😂😂

My favorite Halloween costume was the witch costume that my mother sewed for me. The hat was sewn in a way that it stood up by itself. I wore it to school for a costume contest and won! (The teachers were amazed that the hat stood up by itself.) For the finish, I suggest that you use the idea the Blackbird ladies have suggested: make a color copy of your stitched piece and paste it to a box from the craft store, then finish the actual piece as a drum. (Love me a drum finish.)

Yay for more virtual events!!! The Lindy stitches team truly is THE G.O.A.T. of the virtual platform! Like most nerdy "geriatric millennial" girls, I was obsessed with American Girls dolls and as a result was very "in to" the colonial time period (clearly cross stitch is NOT a leap for me, haha). So my favorite costume was a "Felicity" colonial girl dress and mob cap that my very talented mother sewed for me in 6th grade. I'm sure I looked the COOLEST at the school Halloween skating party in my rollerblades, slicing up the floor in my mob cap and colonial bell sleeves. There was a little girl at my kids' trunk or treat this year dressed up like a colonial dream and you better believe I fan-girled all over that kid! 🤣
