Geoff said he was challenged with the acting and vocal acrobatics. Geoff and Kathy brought most of the set from their own home and yard decor. Geoff did buy more pumpkins, trees, gravestones, and even the moon. They filled in with things from PattyCakes. As always Rick Underwood was the make-up man extraordinaire. He works magic with his make-up skills. Geoff with the black contacts for the glowing pumpkins.

2:07 He's actually doing everything in chest voice here, no subharmonics or falsefold stuff. There are only two subharmonics in this song. A low E and a low F#, towards the end of the song.

We don't really do Halloween here in the UK either, though some might. I don't. But I do love this from Geoff. His vocal control is shown excellently in thos one. He's a master of switching octaves so smoothly. So spooky. :) And the emotions.... his acting skills are beautiful. You should never look away... I see some reactors who spend more time gurning into the camera than watching the video, they must miss so much.

Great reaction! He is an amazing vocalist, obviously, but his artistic/technical skills are just amazing!! This is the only the second time, so far, that his other Geoff's don't appear on screen while singing the harmony!!

He is mostly using chest voice (modal voice, M1) sometimes with some added support of the false folds when the tone quality turns more fry like (rattling). But still the actual vocal chords do the phonation. Only in a few instances does he switch to subharmonics. Like at 3:46 in to the video. So in the beginning it is actually almost exclusively pure chest voice. (How do I know? Coz I have the same voice type. Only difference, Geoff sings and acts like a master, and looks like a model while doing so. I can't do either, and I don't look like Calvin Klein model 😆).

Halloween is the favorite holiday of both Geoff and VoicePlay. VoicePlay just released their cover of Hellfire from the Disney’s animated film the Hunchback of Notre Dame. His eyes glow with pumpkins in this one and there’s a brief instant in Hellfire where flames are in his eyes. He pulled off the melancholia of Jack so well. This is always been one of my favorite songs from the movie and it really illustrates his dual personalities of being the Pumpkin King but looking to maybe do something different. Great reaction . It’s always interesting to hear from someone who lives where they don’t celebrate Halloween. I always thought it was universal. It is celebrated in some other fashion in a lot of cultures (Samhain for instance) but I guess it’s not celebrated the same way we do. We tend to go over the top. 😂And so do Geoff and Kathy. A lot of that decor is from their home!!👻🎃💀

2:17 it's actually all chest, he does an F1 or F#1 i believe in chest in that part, there are only 2 subharmonics in this video

Throughout the beginning, he was using the true vocal folds and doing chest notes with a touch of vocal fry and glottal compression... called "chest-fry". However, even then, it was still within his natural chest and only an artist choice.

Glottal compression is different from chest-fry. Glottal compression only alters harmonics, but the base technique remains the same. Chest-fry is really loose chest voice, allowing more of the vocal folds to come together and produce those creaky sounds, OR it's a really well-supported fry.

@@WSlopeAggie, both chest-fry and glottal compression can be used at the same time. I have been experimenting using the two to get louder chest-fry notes. If you listen to Geoff, he does use both together all the time.

Everyone on the list is in his patreon. Everyone he shouts out to are on his highest tier. I'm not high enough to get on the lists. But I'm perfectly happy where I am. I'm also in Voiceplay's patreon. Same tier. They only have the running list most of the time but every now and then Geoff throws in a speech at the end. Or they add little surprises after a brief pause. Pattycake Productions run credits at the end similar to movie credits. Their videos are amazing as well. Owned and all videos original to Layne and former member Tony. They have a couple Halloween videos.... Bump In The Night and Villains Haunted Mansion. But all of their other videos are amazing. My all time favorite and most popular is... The Villains Lair series. Where else can you get a bunch of Disney villains together to plot a revenge on all those that wronged them?

Dag, I didnt realize you are in NL. I lived there as a kid (many moons ago). We were in Dordrecht. I remember dressing up for Carnival so it isn't Halloween, but there was a corollary, if memory serves. Geoff loves Halloween and had this song on his short list for years. I'm actually glad he waited until now to do it. His voice is just right for the story of this song. I'm truly enjoying your reactions and look forward to the next one. Tot ziens!😊

Carnaval in the Netherlands is a thing indeed. A big parade with trailers and tractors made into all sorts of driving displays and dressed up people. It is very different and mostly celebrated in the south of the country. I used to go as a scott until they decided to check if I wasn't wearing under my kilt ;). Anyways... yes... Other Songs they have done from The Nightmare Before Christmas is What's Tis, This Is Halloween, Kidnap Santa Klaws, Oogie Boogie song which is all VoicePlay done. But the Geoff songs that I love is the Sound Of Silence, Way Down, Till Then just to name a few. If you want another good Halloween songs Monster Mash and Headless Horse Man is on Geoff but VoicePlay has a few. Hope you do some more of Geoff and VoicePlay.

Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of Hell Fire. Geoff id the lead singer & all I can say is wow . He has finally been showing us his full range. His theatrical showmanship is shining through once again as well. I think this is the first time Geoff is the lead vocalist throughout the song. I wish he would more often.
