You know Andy, part of me hates that CG wall behind you. BUT I also think it makes a great background to show off a detail on the spoon. But not that colour - something that contrasts with the spoon - blue or pink. It actually makes for a very clear uncluttered picture...

If there’s one thing I learned from prison its that if you can only have one piece of cutlery a spoon is the best choice.

Any tips on preventing splitting after working green wood?
@andyspoons
@andyspoons 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve! If you are worried about splitting due to the work drying to quickly, a good methos of slowing things down can be wrapping your work in cloth, or burying it in dry woodchips. This basically allows the moisture to slowly dissipate into the other material, rather than evaporating too quickly. There is also an argument to be made that those splits were already there in the wood before you started, or earlier on in the heavier work. It's always good to keep a close eye on the grain as it dries, any dark lines can often be micro splits that only get worse as the work dries. I hope that helps!

What do you call the leather protective piece you use when bracing the spoon against your chest to carve?
@andyspoons
@andyspoons Жыл бұрын
Hey there! So that piece is commonly called a "bodgers bib", originally used by chair makers (bodgers) for long pull cuts
