not even that; iirc old West German crossings (which this one is based upon) had a sort of small jar with some sort of liquid (mercury?) in it and there was a small weight in them that looks like a pump when its working, which controls the flashing sequence. idk where i seen it cus it was long ago but in this case i guess they are de-synced.

i understand what you're saying, i saw a video of a pintsch and a wssb light in action, which were controlled by a mercury relay. the flashing sequence here may be messed up because the mercury chambers are not synced.

And actually it works just by heating a hydrogen gas that pushes mercury in the tube until it breaks the heating circuit and hydrogen gas cools down and connects that heating circuit again.
