My wife and I were fans of the Slough jets ice hockey team. They used to do a fund raising night for charity were they waited on tables in a local restaurant. It was great for the fans and amazing for struggling businesses and also great for the local charities. 1 evening out of your busy life can touch so many more lives.

I was 12 years of age and playing 3rd base. I got a throw from the catcher on an attempted steal after a wild pitch. Almost nabbed the sucker, but missed by about 3 inches. I held my glove up to show the ball, and both umpires looked at each other, clearly unsure of what to call. I told the ump that I missed him, at which time he was called safe. The plate umpire thanked me for my honesty, and the game continued. (The runner didn't score). When I got to the bench, my coach yelled at me for it, saying "next time, tell the ump you got him.". 2 innings later the game was over, and I walked with my bag over to the parking lot. My father was waiting and said he saw the whole thing, and teared up as he told me how proud he was that I did the right thing. 25 years and minus my father later, I hope I'm able to instill in my kids what my father did to me. Work hard. Tell the truth. The rest will follow. Miss you, pops.

１０年とか２０年くらい前、日本で開催された競歩の大会を見てた。当時、競歩って自分には馴染みがなかったんだけど、途中からのめり込んで見てた。いよいよゴールも近くなってきて、１位２位争いが白熱してきた。両者ずっと横並びで、視聴者も「これどうなる！？」と思いながら見てただろう。ゴール直前、なんと両者が肩を組み、空いた方の手でガッツポーズしながらテープを切った。ものすごく感動して、喉が痛くなるほど泣いた記憶がある。結局は写真判定で１位２位が決まったけど、歩いてる途中、相談したふうでもなかったのに自然と肩を組んだことに感動した。
