That explains the statistics, lol. I took the test once and was a bit surprised that my score of 115/197 was considered well below average. People playing repeatedly are probably responsible for most of the 28.5% scoring 188 or above.

Omg, I love that you're not only a Potter Sporcler, but you're also into Geography!!! My favorite Geo quiz is the one where you have to name countries AND capitals without a map. I've even beaten it once before, but it's incredibly hard, owing to the little time! And I always seem to forget Sierra Leone and/or Cabo Verde. 😱

Well done! I do this every two or three weeks just to keep it fresh. As a mnemonic for the "stans" (aside from Pakistan and Afghanistan, which I feel pretty good about), the other 5 alphabetically are more less clockwise geographically: Khazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

Took me a week or so, but I finally got the 197. Geoguessr has a version with 226 countries with even more Caribbean and Oceania islands to remember. I remember the locations and work methodically around the continents to avoid missing anything, especially in Africa. As others have said, focus on the individual continents first to master each of them before you jump into doing the world map.

As someone from Europe, it's very obvious that you have learned to do this from the name, because you don't write together pairs that for me always come together (Czechia + Slovakia, Romania + Moldova, Austria + Hungary... ) and instead connect similar names together. I do the same with other parts of the world! (the -stan countries, the countries of oceania... from some of them I only know the name, and only because of the quiz)

I think the order is important because otherwise it's easy to get confused with what you have and haven't guessed. I used to answer Tonga after Togo because they are similar, but then I'd start thinking of Oceania and forget where I left off on Africa. Keeping the same order is easier for retention (for me).

I am 10 and last time I got i only got 154 countries right but then I practiced all of the countries in all 7 continents days ago but I was struggling with Africa since Africa has many countries, but then I practiced and finally got all of the African countries and In the world map quiz I finally got 197 countries I am really proud of myself (Practice makes perfect)

for me the best technique is islands and archipelagos first, of the whole world (starting with oceania, ending with trinidad and tobago), then the central american countries, where one sometimes forgets one of them, then the western africa and small/micro states of the world, "stans" and the rest :D

I knew the dutch but not the english😅. But good job.. even with the dutch spelling and 15 min more i would not reach the 150 i think.

FWI - the country Antigua and Barbuda is pronounced 'An-tee-ga' not 'An-tee-gua' even though there is a u in it. I visited the island this year (awesome place BTW) and pronounced it with a u and got corrected every time. Just a helpful hint if you ever visit.

"Antigua" means ancient in spanish, and it's pronounced 'An-tee-gua'. So I would say that, despite the way native people pronounce it, that is the correct way to do it.

It is not my interest if UN is right or wrong. From my part, as long as most of the UN members recognize, Palestine is a de facto and de jure Sovereign State. My country recognized officially it's sovereignty. Also, Palestine claims it's self governance through it's president, Mahmoud Abbas, it's government and it's National Council as legislature.
