I remember watching early footage of spore when it was more... well.. "realistic" and hearing that EA told them to change it. That was the single best design change, but at the same time ya; EA dumped this game, made some crappy Wii titles and phone games that have nothing to do with it, and chose to milk the money out of sims (and when I tried to play it on origin they pretty much scammed me by continuing the OS I use so there's that.) Pretty sure Maxis is pretty much gone now and EA sucks. Would of loved that underwater stuff... oh well

@TheEnderGuardianFR10 ай бұрын
I don't know why but right here, right now, listening to this makes me feel like sharing, so here goes: I have such strong ties with this game. I discovered it at 8yo, being mesmerized at my dad playing the demo in which you could only play the Cell Stage, and later asking him to try it too. Day after day. Then he bought the whole game. I very quickly fell in absolute love. It is crazy how this game encompassed the thrill of discovery so well. You discover new funny looking creatures, new environments, new gameplay phases with different mechanics, but this whole time you experience it with YOUR creature, the species YOU created. I remember loving the Creature stage when I discovered it, I somehow felt, in a way, that this is what it was like to be an animal. And that you had a whole PLANET to explore, along with the creature friends you made along the way. It was simply the innocent, childlike sense of wonder, creatures going about their little adventure exploring their planet. And I was exactly feeling like that too, especially that my life at this time was not that bright, this even emphasized further how much playing this game was a sweet bubble of safety, awe and wonder to little me. The discovery of Tribal stage was fun too, I had never played a game with the top-view where you could control several individuals like this. And even to this day, I am totally under the charming spell of the 'Giddy-Up!' and 'Flowers' songs, respectively the ones that play when you domesticate a wild animal and when you give a present to another tribe. Again, such sweet memories. And the total amazement (and a little bit of fear) when I first saw a spacecraft in the Creature or Tribal stage abducting another creature and simply just leaving. Civ stage felt like a true strategy game to 8-9 year old me, and I loved being able to design the own buildings and vehicles of my species. It was fun, but I was definitely not prepared for what was about to come: namely, the Space stage. I don't think I had much prior knowledge about space before that, except for the basic names of the planets of the solar system. And DAMN, this game delivered. Seeing how beautiful space was, with so many different-looking planets, some with very particular feats (the 'rarities'), some with rarer spice, some with life, and having a whole GALAXY at my reach, it was just absolutely mind-blowing. I'm not even telling you about when I discovered binary systems, let alone black holes, worm holes and quasars. Plus your species' quest to expansion, and how accomplished I felt when I carefully picked a planet, raised it to T3 and placed my first real colony, that was just magical. And the missions, the relationships with other alien spacefaring civilizations, I always felt a bit of anguish when the first contact icon appeared, hoping that it won't be a warmonging or zealot civilization, but I thought that slowly improving your relationship with an alien species to make them your best friends even after a rough first contact, when people don't understand each other yet, was so cool, and it still is. And boy, when I discovered how to use the monolith and the hologram tool, my mind shattered. This sums up how amazed I was when playing this stage, and its whole music score greatly emphasized it, like the delicious icing on the cake that it is. I remember now how afraid of the Grox I was too, I never wanted to approach the center of the galaxy haha. And I actually made quite a few friends in online Spore, we were chatting under the comments' section of our newest creations, that was my first social media and it was so sweet, sometimes we were naming our creations "Gift for [nickname]", and we really made creations as a gift to our online friends, and I was aged 10-11 too, that was so sweet, I was so ecstatic to connect everytime and to see what had been up with my Spore friends. And the second shock came when I discovered Galactic Adventures haha, I absolutely loved getting my mind to the weirdest and dumbest scenario that I could create, and going through what other's creative minds had birthed. But yeah, I am writing this 15 years later, I am now finishing my studies (I should write my thesis but I'm writing this instead, priorities you know), I am now able to understand English as well as 2 other languages, and have become an independent, grown-up young adult, and I cannot be thankful enough for all this game has brought me, from my eternal passion of astronomy, my ability to let my creativity speak, to my deep interest in science-fiction and possible scenarii, and my ever-lasting curiosity and interest about biology, animals and nature in general. If I am lucky enough to have a child one day, I would love to share this gem with them, around the same age I was when I first played. I don't expect them to feel the same way I did back then, but I feel that it appeals to my sense of duty to at least try to share it with them, as it might represent the gorgeous life-changing experience that it was for me and that I still cherish to this day. Or not, but at least I would have tried, and that is totally fine. And there goes my little time-capsule comment, one day I'll go back to it years later, and be surprised at how much of this is still true :)

Art is a form of self expression, and it just so happens that a certain form at a certain time can capture a whole person's soul for a lifetime. I am happy for you, that you found a multicolored spark of ideas that resonates with you across many different layers of your being. Spore to me has been an unforgettable experience, no matter the bugs and occasional frustrations, alas it is not a perfect match for me. I have yet to find something that resonates with my soul and body in nigh-perfect match a la Spore's resonance with you, however, I see the fragments of this resonance scattered around different shows, movies, literature works, paintings, video games, life experiences, music. I found one such fragment in Spore's music, a shine of the light of subjective perfection. You are lucky, no matter what happens to you, you have found art that fits the "sockets" in your chest and head very closely. One day I will create this "missing link" for myself as I don't see anyone being able to provide, at least if I lose my dreams and a talent for learning I will not be entirely empty and alone. I will prepare for my final moments, but I have to also be careful not to ignore the present while focusing on the future and vice versa. Don't listen to negative comments about your comment's length, pour your soul out in the place designed to do so, artistic self expression should not be contained. Safe travels mate.

Maybe the only one piece of art of all history of humanity that gives this kind of eternal calmness, feeling of how the universe, our galaxy, is our beautiful home and it just exists and will keep us alive as long as it exists. I think it's something that connects every living creature on our planet, every human: many of us connect with this feeling by beleiving in god, but I think this "something" is just so undescribable, like every molecule in our bodies feels and remembers that it always was a part of the universe, like literally atoms in our bodies at one point drifted in some star or around some black hole. It's like somehow we all can feel and remember that billions years ago we were somewhere else and something else and we will never forget our roots.. and we're still not sure where it all started, science talks about singularity and big bang, many believe that god created it all. Whatever it was, I just can't stop feeling that we all were at one point, at one place, we all were connected at the beginning.. No matter how many depression, war and violence we have on our planet and in behavior, I'm truly happy to be alive and be a part of this beautiful universe, and growing up playing Spore - I can't remember what else could give me do much power and calmness and feeling that everything will be all right, even when I die, at some point maybe I will be a part of other creature that will feel a deep feeling at least once in their life, reminding of how I lived my life and how life of my atoms was after I died. How do creators of this game, Will Wright, did it? Do they know something that we don't know? Or you think I'm just a dreamy person, and it's just nostalgia, etc.? Or maybe the feeling of nostalgia is not that simple that we all think?

But I remember the game felt like hints and prompts. It had some descriptions that used to make my mind wonder and think abou how *actually* my creature was roaming that planet. There was space for placing desctiptions, so I used to write a short paragraph talking about what that creature liked to eat, how was their behaviour. I don't know if that's just something about how my mind works in particular (I'm a general digital designer now) but I used to admire the menus, the patterns, the sounds, the lights, the music. I used to read all the spore help searching for something new I didn't know. Felt so more deep than it actually was. I don't know If I miss the game or tha past version of myself

Sometimes I still play this masterpiece, and still wonder why EA has given up on such great game... These soundtracks most of the times makes me sad and feeling like lonely, but they're pure and great to listen to relax in sadness. Even if nowdays I play games like League Of Legends, Minecraft, Drakensang Online, Spore was my beginning, and will always remain in my heart. I've grown up with nice memories on it, especially after hard days at school. The other games takes much of the time, leaving Spore basically without time to be played, but when it happens, from time to time, I still enjoy it a lot, while feeling lonely because even if it never had been a super-known game, it was for sure a lot alive back then, while nowdays only few people plays it still. My parents did most of the work, but this game also was a great part of my life, and it also contributed in forging the nice guy I am nowdays. I will never be thankful enough for the MAGICAL feeling it always gave me, the chills, when I was even younger. I just hope one day EA could return on adding more content on it. No matter what, spore will always be the best game to me. Its beautiful music, especially in space stage is too good for it to be real. I can't wait to listen to music that give vibes like this, and finally find a place that could enhace the emotions that i feel right now. The amplified happiness that would bring is crazy to even think about. Maybe, I could create a room instead.. with stars and whatever else that looks magical.. everything looking unbelievably real... and then of course, I would have these kinds of music playing. I can't wait. Thank you spore and thank you to the universe for providing us with matters that make life worth living again and again. As for whoever reads this, let me tell you that that life can be lived happily. All you have to do is manifest whatever it is that's in your mind that you know will make you happy. Not everything is possible, unfortunately, but what is possible and can make you happy should be done. Your own happiness is just as important as anyone else's. But to be happy, you have to do something. I know what will make me happy, and I will manifest that want because it's worth it. You can do the same. The power is quite literally in your hands, you just have to start putting your wants into effect. Your happiness needs to begin with you acting. Depending on someone else to feel happy means that you won't be happy when they're not around. That's why you need to act. Make the things come true that you think will make you happy and you will be happy as a result of that alone. As I said, your happiness is just as important as anyone else's, so make your life happier. You'd be surprised, but by you showing that you're happy, others will also feel happy. And then who knows, maybe they'll start working on making their live's happier. They're happiness is just as important as ours. Happiness is important because it makes us feel good. We feel satisfied with life when we're happy and that's when we also begin to value everything that life has to offer, everything that the universe has to offer. Now, remember what I said. This comment will forever be here, so if you ever want to feel happy then trust me, this is the way. Just thinking about finally acting towards making your life happier by making your wants become a reality should be already enough to make you feel more positive right now. The first step is simple. The rest of the steps are to simply make your wants become a reality. 1st step: Be positive. Believe in yourself and whoever or whatever it is that will help you in getting what you want. Have hope in yourself and in whoever or whatever that will bring you one step closer to getting to being truly happy. You need to act first and continue to be strong, hopeful, smart to get the your wants to become a reality. You know what you're capable of and if you think you can't do it, then you clearly dont know yourself well enough, but you will once you begin to act towards making your wants become a reality. Everybody who acts now will also have the great opportunity of getting to know themselves and this is great for many reasons, but mostly because by knowing yourself better, you will know what wants will truly make you happy. There's a lot of things that need to be done in order for you to feel happy, and I'm telling you, these steps will lead to you feeling happier. Not only that, but what you will be doing once you're truly happy is the most enthusing thing ever. It will be great and believe me, there will be more happening once you're happy. But don't take my words for that, get started and eventually, you too will see that there is more beyond being happy.

EA never cared about Spore anymore. Once the last DLC/patch was released, they left the game to rot, and went ahead. But thankfully this game is still kept alive thanks to its community. Without it, Spore would die in at least 2012 or earlier. Now I could see over 1k players concurrent on steam at the same time. So, if I can say, Spore is alive. But not like it was in beginning.

I remember begging my dad to buy me this game after seeing the footage of the original demo. Can't remember if he actually ended up buying it then or if I got it later on, but it was a huge part of my childhood, from elementary school onward. Spore is an incredibly flawed game, and I really wish that Will Wright could have seen out the vision of the game presented in the demo. Even so, it sparked the imaginations of so many kids, including and especially my own. And people are still getting into the game today. I really hope the devs are proud of what they made.

To be honest, I still have hope that one day, someone will either remaster, make a sequel or make a completely new game inspired on Spore. Imagine how amazing the game could be with all the technology we have for videogames these days?! The graphics, the gameplay, the soundtrack, and everything else that is already amazing in Spore could be even better, and amaze even more people with this unique experience. But until then, we can all just keep playing the original Spore, because it is still amazing on its own. Even if EA kinda ruined it.

mMmmMmM this t h I s is what childhood feels and sounds like i remember getting Spore galactic adventures before the base game so we had to buy the original spore before it could work. oh boy was that Such a great day. from then on I've played it on and off, sometimes doing challenges or a new game every once in a while. it was never until I came back to it after five years that I figured out how to play tribal stage and up and contrary to most people, I actually enjoy playing tribal and up. for me, cell stage is completely broken but still works. it's really fun, seeing your creations. i introduced it to a friend last year. he really liked it but doesn't have a computer so I'd let him play on mine. we created wack creatures and spent hours laughing at and making fun of them. i found one of his serious creations in a game the other day as an epic. it was lovely seeing his reaction as I called him up and showed him his kid. Here's to Spore. a game greater than it's given credit for. thanks for all the fun memories.
