The Sport Gives Back Awards were founded by former international athlete Connie Henry MBE who set up the awards to “celebrate those who use sport for social change”.
Children's Charity the Youth Sport Trust selected Jill Newbolt from Sheffield to win their Building Brighter Futures award. Jill is a Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School practitioner, and has dedicated her career to breaking down the barriers that society places on children with disabilities in sports and physical education, particularly those with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Olympians Sir Mo Farah and Fatima Whitbread presented Jill with her award on the evening.
The nation will be able to witness Jill’s proud moment when the Sport Gives Back Awards are broadcast on ITV on Sunday, March 24. The Youth Sport Trust is just one of eight charities that will be seen handing out awards on the programme, alongside Dallaglio RugbyWorks, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Greenhouse Sports, Invictus Games, Lord’s Taverners, Sported, Sport Works.
