Hey mate I just watched your CBR250RR videos, would you reccomended it as a first road bike?

Absolutely. I still own mine @ 112,000k's (80,000 mine). It was/is my first bike and has run very reliably. I can't say enough good things about it.

Your riding is so inspiring. Has made me want nothing but a 250rr as my first bike. Perhaps when you're able to you could stick another go pro behind you so we can see your body positioning? Either way keep up the great work, and just know you're probably the best brand ambassador for the 250rr at the moment haha

From the good o’l US of A here, maybe that will get you to respond haha. Anyways, some of your downshifts before the corners, I noticed your rpms stuttering maybe three times or so, what was the cause of that? Going into a lower gear to soon? Gear to low for the speed you were going/not slowing down fast enough? This has happened to me before right before a corner and I downshifted to 2 from 4th very quickly and had this type of stutter in Rpms and wheel lock. Just curious to see if this was the same in your case.

The rear wheel lightens when on the brakes, so downshifting abruptly (or accidentally downshifting one gear too many) can cause the lightened rear to judder along the asphalt for a moment due to engine braking. Rev matching, which I don't bother with when racing, or a slipper clutch would eliminate the rear skipping like that. Honestly though, the rear skipping is zero problem. When you get that skipping, you know your braking is on point.

SportbikerNZ good to know, I was hard on the brakes when this happened to me, and I thought I had done something wrong since I’ve never experienced it before. Especially getting adjusted to my new bike. Thanks for the reply!

Some great racing, is it pretty much only gearing seperating bikes?i

Gearing and rider weight primarily. Also power commanders are permitted but seem ineffective to me (I don't use one). Also there are two Hyosungs models eligible - the single cyl X4R and v-twin GT250R. The light X4R bikes were putting out faster outright laptimes but outgunned in top speed by the gt250r.

SportbikerNZ It's maybe possibly Hyosung have their fuelling sorted from factory, they did get pinged on it in reviews when they first released bikes in the West. Looks like a great, reasonably cheap race series! How much quicker is the Mc22 per lap roughly?

I haven't done the long version of this track on the MC22, but it would be about 10 seconds a lap faster (2:05s laps on Hyo) judging by the 300cc race clase laps on the same day. Really no contest between the MC22 and Hyo, but that's what you get for a bike that would have cost about 3x as much in its day. MC22 has a lot more power, far lighter and more flickable with its shorter wheelbase.

SportbikerNZ does the '300cc' class include the R3 and RC390 like the US series does? Or just Ninja 300s, CBR300R, etc?

Yes same here in NZ. The R3 bikes are the most common in the 300cc class with a few rc390's around.
