Ejections are the best way to determine how good or bad umpires are in my opinion. Each and every one of them is going to make terrible calls at some point, it’s just too hard to rank them by accuracy. The good umpires are the ones who only reserve ejections for when either a player’s temper is very hot (self-explanatory), when a play commits an unsportsmanlike conduct (like a pitcher retaliating with a HBP after allowing a home run), or when tensions are heightened (like ejecting a pitcher for hitting someone with a fastball after warnings were issued). The terrible umpires eject players when there’s no tension in-game (the first clip) or when the ejected player has no temper (second and third clip)

The context was that Burnett had been unhappy with a previous call near the same area, and was basically saying "oh, so you wanna call that one a ball when the last one was a strike?" I love how this video is titled "MLB Ejected for No Reason", but in a couple of the clips, the reason is obvious. At 2:15 - if you come out of the dugout to argue balls and strikes that's grounds for ejection. AJ Burnett's reaction? Clearly grounds for an ejection. The rest seem pretty bad, though.

You are just as soft as these umpires

In every case here there is some motive for the ejection. Whether or not it's justified is another question. But I did not see a single clip where the ejected player or coach said or did absolutely nothing.

@@pyrite13 the first one? Lol it was an accidental HBP and you think he did something wrong? Never umpire a baseball game please
@pyrite132 жыл бұрын
@@Idekreally I never said he did something wrong. I said he did something. He hit the batter with a pitch. Regardless of the intent or lack thereof, hitting the batter with a pitch was the inciting incident. If the umpire had ejected the right fielder or the hot dog vendor after that pitch you may have a point.
@timdarnell78192 жыл бұрын
@@pyrite13 of course he did something. You can't just stand there and do nothing or the game wouldn't be played. Use a little common sense here.

Or maybe realize that there's still a game to play, and just let it go when an ump makes a bad call. That shit happens. Easier said than done sure but just some food for thought
