Totally agree, excellent production video - especially the intro. Love Car since they waxed lyrical about my 21 F Pace SVR last month.. however this would’ve been a perfect video if Jamie had covered all of the cars - no cheesy puns, real driver view and a single reviewer would’ve given consistent level of review across the pack. Less theatre more purist.

Rev matching is part of the joy of driving. If you suck at driving its okay man. I also make sure none of my motorcycles come with a quick shifter. My hands and feet are the quick shifter. Maybe not as quick, but I prefer to push my skill rather than be complacent being an average rider/driver. As a long time CAR reader, it saddens me to see how great publications like CAR seem to be struggling. I grew up with magazines like CAR; this was going back to when Setright had a column, and cars like the 512BB and Countach were new. I'll never forget the CAR feature on the Countach, with Lamborghini's claim of a 206mph top speed... But how can you take these cars on track, with a wonderfully capable and articulate professional driver, and not even just mention what their laptimes were? I get it, the best car isn't necessarily the fastest car. But you could at least mention the times, and say more about what they are like at the limit, for someone who would drive them in that way. I recognize producing these videos are terribly expensive and must be logistical nightmares. But as an enthusiast, it's just a big "miss" IMO. I had a subscription to CAR (and Autocar and Performance Car, and then Evo) for many years, and these were stupidly expensive here in Asia. And I was once one of the editors for a very popular automobile magazine licensed locally from the UK which had to kill off it's print version and go fully online after a more than 10-year run. So I completely appreciate how difficult it must be for traditional car media with print editions. There's just so much free content out there, and some of it is really well produced (i'm not talking about the many car vloggers, which I find increasingly difficult to watch). But when the big year end group tests used to be one of the events i'd look forward to at the end of the year, seem to play things so safe, and not even give laptimes, it just feels like something has gone wrong somewhere...
@jamesdennison97223 жыл бұрын
First off, thanks for being a long-time reader of CAR. It really is hugely appreciated. I understand your frustration on the lap times and agree that it does feel like a missed opportunity. Everyone on the test would *love* to have published times but for reasons out of our control we could not. Hopefully you can understand and continue to enjoy our content, we’ve got plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline (and will hopefully get some lap times in for future videos)! James
@trackhos3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesdennison9722 I appreciate you taking the time to reply. As I said, I can sympathize with just how tough the business environment must be for CAR and others. Many of the old presentors on your videos are gone, and I noticed you took the helm some years ago. At first I missed the old guard, but change is both inevitable and never necessarily a bad thing. You have your own more reserved style but your passion and love for what you do is evident. I will continue to be a viewer and wish you and the rest of CAR continues success. The GT3 is just such a fine thing. I would so love to drive one. Effing Cup 2's on the M4...they are such a "conditions must be right" tire. You all would have been better served with 4S's, I think. Also continues to be sad that you don't get the 6MT base M3 and 4 to play with.
@marcuskuip3 жыл бұрын
4S is definitely better in the wet. But when the track dried, the 1.700 kg weight would’ve destroyed the tires in two laps.
@bri10423 жыл бұрын
That's not really true. Enough folk have taken these cars to the track on both the 4S's and the less-happy P-Zeros that many folk got on their cars and gotten a very reasonable number track days and laps out of both stock tires. Appreciate the hyperbole as it's always fun, but Mustangs don't shred 4S's that fast and they weigh more than an M4 does. Ask the random and somewhat odd folk who track Tesla 3 Perf's with 4S's...
