Yes! This is what we had kinda. Except you couldn’t buy food, every team had a color, each grade has their field day separated from every other grades. All of this was only during elementary. Middle school we never did anything and high school we had a tournament and raised money for charities and it was just clicks of people on their own teams🤷🏻‍♀️.

I'm from the UK and my secondary school the more you went up in school years the more you disliked Sports days. The seniors would just laze around and not try very hard while the juniors were very competitive with each other. The seniors would hide from taking part in sports day and wish we just had a day of instead. It was interesting to see in our year who was lucky enough to get out of sports day or get out of choosing a team.

In my area of America, we call it Field Day. In ours, our homerooms got split in two, so you were just going against your homeroom. We did the usual games like tug o‘ war, space walk races, kick ball, wall ball, wheel barrel relay, and many more. We usually ended the day by heading back up to our classes and watching a movie. A lot of people got checked out after, so there were usually 5-15 people after.

I hated most of it apart from the hurdles (which were fun), the standing long jump (which I was marginally better at than most) and the sack race (which I was bloody fantastic at! I always won.)

I was so confused because my school called it field day and we didn't have teams or houses or points because parents didn't want the kids to feel bad if they lost, there were no sports just cheap little games like bean bag toss, also it ended after fifth grade.

Up here in Minnesota, we had Field day in elementary school and you would go outside for basically extended recess but not the whole day and there were bounce houses and races and hurdles and the playground and stuff. At the end you got a snowcone, then you had to go back inside and do math or whatever. I moved in 6th grade to a new district(where 6th was still elementary school and not middle/jr high), and that district didn't do anything at all except for a big "walkathon" around the high schools track for no reason.

Our field day was like a day of activities/stations you got to and do once each. There was climbing the ropes and net in the gym & some ropes to swing on. There was a bubbles station, I think maybe some kinda weird race station like maybe a crab walk or something. The best station was the parachute one or whatever, where they have that big circular rainbow cloth/sheet thing you shake around and throw balls ontop of and stuff. And at the end of the day I think we just hung out on the middle school's track(it bordered our elementary school's field). There might've been an optional relay race on there but I don't remember that well.

We had to do the potato and spoon instead of the egg and spoon at our primary school as eggs were too 'messy' and we did it with massive ladle-like spoons. I would sit in the line to do that dreading my turn as I was god-awful at it and never failed to drop it less than 7 times. I'm afraid I can't relate to the sack race as I was brilliant at it but, I still feel you.

we called it field day or at my elementary school, "buddy field day." You had to partner up with another person and they gave you a card to staple on your back with a list of games. Every time you completed an activity someone would hole-punch the thing on the list. I hated it bc i didn't have many friends in my glasses and wasn't very fit either. We didn't have teams and it wasn't competitive at all, like Evan said it was like an extended recess. I hated field day from my experience haha.

Everyone would cheer on their house and you all had to wear your house colour and whoever got the most points won. We also had a raffle and I remember one year we also had 2 guys from sixth form dress up as Mario and Luigi which was the funniest thing ever.

+Alys Lewis SAME except the bus/coach trip took about 10 minutes and out stadium was ontop of a hill and since our house is yellow we have to wear yellow T-shirts that have our school logo and house on them, but since my top is yellow it attracts flies and wasps :( Also we have points and at the end you get a sports champion boy and girl for every year. I suck at long distance and shot put, but am OK at everything else... I think I came tenth in high jump which is wierd since I'm small...

I always said to me, I'll miss one of these sport days. At the very last sports day (10 years ago) I didn't go. It was a triatlon in the forest . I walked there with the others but walked slower than them (they had to see me). When the last person walked past me, I turned back and went home. The next day, they asked me where I was. I told them I wasn't feeling well, I couldn't find a teacher to tell and went home. They believed me. Later, during a break, someone from another class asked, and he didn't believe me. Then someone from my class stepped in and said, I saw her she looked sick...

@@Leenapanther Wow. We do it in the nearest athletics centre so I wouldn't be able to sneak off like that, either I fake an injury so I don't actually have to do the sports or I find a way to stay at home.

@@tudno8502 No, I hate the Eisteddfod, it's worse... I've been maybe four times total and I wasn't even performing, it was horrible. No offence to those who perform, there's nothing wrong with the actual performances and stuff but it's so boring there.

I can relate. I’m too much of a goody-goody to fake sick, but I hate sports day because it’s just too sporty and serious now. At least in primary school we still had sports, but it was a bit of fun. Now our sports days are run too seriously :(

Ours was called field day. We had to wear our school colors and they made special t-shirts for that day. Two weeks before you would chose from a list of which events you wanted to be in. You got to choose 3 or 4. The whole town would be there. It was an all day event.

I live in Colombia and I study in a private school but it is like a british school because the family that owns the school is from britain. We have houses and we win points by competing in poetry, chess, music, dance and theater. When you get into primary school they give you your house which will be your house until you graduate and if you have an older sibling then you have to be in the same house as him/her

I live in the US. We had Field Day. Ours had inflatables and games, but it wasn't very competitive. The only part of the day where we would compete is Tug of War and it was against homeroom classes. When we were in 6, 7, and 8th grade, it was against the grades.
