IT was very sub par on defense and wasnt worth locking up serious Cap space ... The NBA validated that quickly after IT left Boston. When the trade is finalized there is 0 reason for the player to risk getting injured for a team hes no longer on. Its done for the benefit of both sides. injury would most likely void the trade and neither team wants that so they have to take them out. If its near the deadline they aren't going to sit a player and tell him "hey we are trying to trade you but not sure if the deal will go through". Yes the timing can suck but trades can happen mid game and get finalized during it. Nothing to do about it. If a trade was done before the game then there's no way the player would even start. Its all circumstance and clearly the deals weren't finalized until after the game had started.
