Great content. Really enjoyed the video. A few things that were not covered. 1) flipping versus longer term investing, 2) Selling on EBay - know the fees and your break even point, 3) Wait times on grading, 4 ) BGS sub grades 5) buying on instagram/facebook. Maybe topics for card investing 201. Lol. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I haven’t collected cards since the 80s and learning how overwhelming this industry has become. One of the best things I got from this video is to reduce the noise and it took me a while and a fair amount of $ before I had this realization. I love collecting football numbered autos from my favorite team - the Vikings as well as NFL Legends like Namath, Staubach, Tarkenton, etc. Thanks very much for your awesome videos!

One if the main reasons the NT Vertical RPA’s are more than the Horizontal is primarily because of grading. When the card it slabbed it will be upright. Most Horizontal cards in general will not sell as high as Verticals in most product.

Buy the hype before the hype starts.Scout your players. Listen to scouts. Learn to watch your players on youtube. Do your technical analysis (the players stats). Watch how good theyre playing in college...minor leagues. If you buy a stock the business must be making money..quarterly reports.If you go off brand go with autos only. Buy during the off season. Alot of collectors loose attention during the offseason.
@bitcoinisfreedom52655 жыл бұрын
Agree with almost everything you say. But the market baffles me, and I think trends may change as people begin to love more brands than just Prizm and National Treasures, which will increase the supply of rookie cards (as if Panini isn't doing this already with Prizm Silvers which aren't serial numbered). I will say the whole Rookies going for so much more than Patch Auto's still baffles me. I know it's all supply and demand, but I think this may be changing in future years when (as you saw with all of your Zion rookies and even mentioned yourself) Panini continues to overprint rookie cards across the vast majority of their brands and investors start getting burned. Today I grabbed an Anthony Davis On Card Auto with Patch serial numbered outta 25 for $48, a Bradley Beal On Card Auto Patch serial numbered for $18, and a durant Patch auto for $50. I'm not huge on flipping I just buy what I like. But it baffles me how high some of the Prizm silver rookies from last year are going for; previous years I can understand when there was more limited supply. But it's crazy to me when there's so many rookie cards with so many brands. We'll see if the trends stay the same, but I like to zig when others zag. Patch autos have worked out for some of the higher end players. I have a patch auto MJ out of 25 that's worth approximately 2.5k to 3k, and it's at the absolute low end due to he's with the wizards - but those bulls exquisite patch autos go for 60k+.

One of my first autograph cards was a bad purchase. You need to check distinction of what type of autograph your buying. Sometimes people will get “in person”(at the end of a live game), on card autograph, which are not certified via Topps or Panini. In my case it was a cheap lesson, “Tyler Glasgow Gypsy Queen RC $4”. If your buying a big name it could cost you a lot. On the card it usually has indicators for legitimacy with autos. Good looks on pointing out and breaking down “sticker autos”. I didn’t understand why those cards were not aesthetically pleasing but now do.

I think the main reason why vertical cards are worth more than horizontal cards is because when that card is graded by a 3rd party(BGS or PSA) it just look better. The grading score will be on top of the vertical card and the horizontal card will have the grade on the right side of the card and the grade will be turned in 90 degree angle. Search vertical graded cards and horizontal graded cards and refer to pics. U will know what I mean. Thanks

Say it with me, spell it with me, pronounce it with me RE FRAC TOR!! Lol that second “R” is important, great information though, gotta let them know sometimes the base RC is more valuable than some of the parallels and even some of the serial numbered parallels if the number is too high
@drunkwaxera49453 жыл бұрын

i only do basketball. the way i see it, prizm is now the modern day topps chrome while national treasures is the modern day upper deck exquisite. market dictates what are the "key-est" cards to have. but as a collector (not just an investor) i look at any on-card autographs of players in their nba uniforms as a good alternative if one can't afford the NT RPAs. prizm rcs are always key cards to have. but to add to lower tiered rcs, i consider hoops as a good alternative if one cant afford the prizm rc. silver prizms are must haves but i'd rather get an on-card autograph rookie over it. its more of preference but that's how i collect. been collecting basketball since 1994 with no let up. i just love basketball cardboard! haha.
@christianc88492 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed this, thanks! I get Robert Herjavec vibes from your speaking style. So I watched this right after ripping all the Prizm, got a bunch of sticker auto. But then I thought, hey at least the player can't mess up the card right!? I have an on-card Wade Boggs auto with a chicken stain!
