#6: I was at that game, but I only saw about half of the incident. I was in one of the gift shops and I heard the crowd react to something. I went back out to see what had happened, just in time to see Lloyd McClendon walk off the field with the base tucked under his arm. It's pretty surreal seeing it here, but in person, about a hundred times more so.

My favorite had to be #1, but my other favorite was when Loyd McClendon took first base with him to the dugout and threw the base. I heard something last week that the Pirates had the base in the locker room and put candles around it while McClendon served suspension.

great stuff. lol, #2) always been a huge fan of hal macrae, this is why he was a great ballplayer, you can talk about george brett and all the players k.c. had, but mac was the toughest out and the most clutch player the royals ever had. unfortunately this aggressive and heightened intensity didn't work well with the politics of being a manager. the subdued and conservative royals management fired him shortly after. still cracks me up.
