Although this didn't result in a ring, something else happened...Alex Smith no longer carried an albatross around his neck, he became accepted by the Niner faithful. When 49er fans remember Alex Smith 20 years from now, they will remember a young man who was buried under unrealistic expectations before he even had a chance...yet they will also remember that he never gave up no matter the adversity. Thank you Alex, I wish every day you were still a 49er.

Well I wanted the switch to Kap, because I wanted to win a super bowl and Alex just didn’t take shots more than 10yds down the field. I respected him but our offense was too limited. I still respect though. Now even more so, maybe it’s love now. Love you Alex, thank you for representing us, and everyone else with class and grit.

+IronShell24 Mike Nolan never hired the right offensive staff to properly utilize he and Gore, he showed flashes though. When Singletary took over(lol he was a joke of a head coach) it looked like it may have been over. Harbaugh came at the perfect time. The best thing about him playing for Reid is that Reid understands that tempo and ball control are more important than your QB throwing for 5000 yards. With that defense it's very possible but the AFC West is tough division. The Chargers are better than people give them credit for and the Broncos are a QB away from being in another Super Bowl themselves. Then there's the unholy rise of the Raiders. Better try get one soon because their window with him is closing.

This is one of the most inspiring and emotional sports videos ever made. It was really hard to be a 49ers fan during the 2000’s and watched 90% of their fan base abandon them. This video is magic for us diehard 9ers fans. It captures the struggle the team went through and how great it was during the 2011 season, and even more so during the playoffs. I get choked up every time I watch this video, even all these years later. This team is probably one of the greatest teams ever that didn’t win a Super Bowl (thanks Kyle Williams). I will always root for Alex, no matter what jersey he wears. I’m very hopeful for Garoppolo next year, and can’t wait til we get back to this level. GO 9ERS!!!!!

This was such a great video. Very well done. Have you ever thought about doing one on Buster Posey's injury? Him coming back the next year, winning MVP and leading Giants to a 2nd WS in 3 years. That would be an epic video if it was as well done as this one.

***** Are you talking to me? Anyways, unless I see Colin Kaepernick improve his reads and makes much better and quicker decisions with the football especially with new head coach Chip Kelly, he will take more beatings and being more careless with the pigskin. He's another Rick Mirer with the way he's playing. As for Alex Smith, he might take a lot of sacks since he was sacked 129 times in his first three seasons as a Kansas City Chief, but he's still efficient and unlike Colin, he can take a hit to make a play.

As a die hard Niners fan watched Alex Smith play he’s whole career as a niner and he was just a pure turnover machine. He threw so many picks into the defenders chest while his receiver was like no we’re 5 yards near the ball for 5 long painful seasons straight the Kaep switch in the 2012 season is what gave the Niners offense a whole new gear to compete
@mattware
@mattware 4 жыл бұрын
Smith was a top 3 QB in 2012 before the switch to Kap and then went on to play well in KC and WAS before he was injured. His 2011 season was also solid and he got better as the year went along. So was he the problem or was coaching the problem?
@Clutch_42049
@Clutch_42049 4 жыл бұрын
mattware honestly it was both the quarterbacks and head coaches were the reasons the Niners were terrible from 2004-2010. Alex Smiths 2011-2012 season performance were only good cause he just had to make sure he MANAGED to not turn over the ball has he usually does but the defense was the main reason they went to 3 straight NFCCGs and a Super Bowl appearances
@mattware
@mattware 4 жыл бұрын
@@Clutch_42049 the sequel series to this video shows how Alex Smith's stats actually improved after the "We Want Carr" chant. Alex said after that he stopped caring about living up to the pressure of being the number one pick. Even before that he had moments that showed his potential, like his 3rd season before he got injured. He also had a shoulder issue under Nolan that Nolan didn't want him to have surgery on during the season.

As a Niner fan I truly believe until my dying day that Alex Smith wasn't given a fair trial with the Niners considering his O.C was changing every year like shuffling a deck of cards. How can any QB progress with that kind of dilemma every season? And the year where he lost his job against Colin, I understand and respect Harbaugh's decision but I still didn't like how it all went down even if we would've won the Super Bowl that year. But now he's with a new team now and doing great, so wish him the best of luck and he'll always be one of us (even if he's a few states away).

Feels like this was our superbowl still. I mean as a 49ers fan past 94' the excitement and array of emotions on display in this game was un real and never matched again i feel. Part to do with the move to a tech area, and part of the reason is the fans post 94' have lost any hope of a Super Bowl win

I have to say, this video was beginning to be emotional. Good thing, the saint's defensive coordinator came up. Cause I was about to tear up.. Faithful ever since I was born in '96. A year after they won their most recent super bowl. Ever since then, it's been a sad face. It's time to revive.

As everyone always says, people always give credit to the players, especially to the QB when they win, and destroy them when they lose. What people forget is that despite the phenomenal players of 49er's history, the coaching staff was exceptional as well. In the 2000's, until Harbaugh came along they had no direction. Smith isn't an elite player but he deserves to be one of the starting 32

It's simple, Alex Smith was a product of his environment... Imagine you have 4 new bosses every year, and each boss tells you how to do things differently and memorize the new system implemented. I respect Alex Smith because he could've thrown a fit, he could've been a cancer to the team, but he has more class than any other player we've ever had. I wish him nothing but success in Kansas City, which so happens to be my AFC team. 49ers and Chiefs for life!

I really never likes Alex Smith but i did support him since he was a 49er, through the rough times and back. I'm proud he's getting more respect as a quarter back. I wish him all the luck in Kansas City.

The day is Feb 10, 2024. Bryant Young just choked up telling Patrick Willis he finally made it to Canton. The 49ers are carrying the pain of the last three playoff exits into another Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes. With inconsistent 49ers defense and Mr Irrelevant at QB, 81% of bets are coming in on the Chiefs. Privately, doubt is creeping into the mind of every 49ers fan. It’s been 12 years since this minor miracle at Candlestick. Tomorrow we all find out if we can touch that feeling again.
