I was diagnosed with ALS in January. I'm only 43. It is a totally devastating disease. A year ago I was at work, at a very physical job, when I started having pains in my hamstring. I thought it was just a work injury. I had to leave work early and went to see a doctor for testing. I went for the results by myself thinking it was just a pulled hamstring and ankle injury, that's when they told me it was ALS and statistically I had 2 years left. I'm now mostly bound to a wheelchair. I'm in pain constantly and worst of all I have to figure out how to tell my 6 year old son that daddy won't be around much longer. I know what Borje and his family went through and I'm so sorry it has to happen to anyone.

Growing up in Toronto, my dad's favorite player was Börje Salming. I don't recall ever missing a HNIC broadcast every Saturday. I'm now 55, my dad is 86 and we just watched this together. To see my dad cry watching this tribute made me cry as well. It's amazing how emotional watching this made my dad. He remembers how horribly Punch Imlach treated Börje and that he deserves so much better. Whenever we watch a Leafs game, he proudly wears the Salming jersey I got him 30 years ago & still has Salming's rookie card on his mantel. This tribute is truly warranted. Respectfully speaking, the current iteration of the Leafs didn't deserve to be on the same ice as Börje.

Börje Salming, one of the greatest Swedish athletes of all time, he was from my own home town of Kiruna, a tiny mountain town with a population of less than 20 thousand. Your jersey hangs proudly in both the Hockey Hall of Fame as well as Matojärvi Ice Hall, where you started you career, certainly not as illustrious but nonetheless a symbol of our reverence for the man who put Swedish ice hockey on the map. R.I.P. Börje

I'm a Swedish-Canadian guy who was in high school in Toronto when Börje Salming and Inge Hammarström came over. I remember being half-tackled in the hallway of the school by a guy I really didn't know, who hissed "chicken-sh*t Swede" and then continued on his way. Several months later, I was walking home from school and happened upon some kids playing street hockey. One guy threw himself along the ashfalt to block a shot and triumphantly yelled: "I'm pulling a Boouurgeee..." The tide had turned.

Borje Salming was very often the only reason to watch Leafs games back then. It's amazing how tough he was and still is.

One of the most touching yet painful things I've ever had to watch. Seeing him crying in that state broke me. I've known who he was my whole life and I'm no Leaf fan. I'll never forget the cover of the Toronto Star when I was a young kid. He had his cat on his lap and that scar on his face actually scared me as a kid. I was like 8. I'm happy you're not in pain anymore Borje. You were a LEGEND and every Swedish hockey player should be thankful for you and your legendary career. Rest easy legend.

As a kid growing up in the 90's playing hockey in Sweden, Salming is an absolute inspiration and our team used to watch his old games together. He is one of the reasons I still love this sport 30 years later even tho I quit playing it as an adult. Absolute legend and seeing him like this made me break down in uncontrollable tears, terrible disease and beautiful ceremony. Thank you.

You know you're a warrior when you fight on and on and even when faced with a incurable disease you still fight. That's honorable. What a legend.

He was a beast. An athlete. Took all the nastiness thrown at him physically and verbally in the NHL and fought back HARD! He paved the way as a true representative of European talent. He endured Ballard, like the rest of the talent, yet played hard and reached the pinnacle of historic players. Much love, Borje.

As a Canadian living in the UK all these years this brought back memories of going to see the Leaf's games at Maple Leaf Gardens and watching on TV. It seemed that no game back then wasn't complete if Borje Salming wasn't playing. A true gentleman, hockey player and legend. Thank you and god bless.

Impossible to not watch this and bawl my eyes out. Bless your soul, Mr. Salming. Thank you to the Leafs organization for putting all of this together. There are so many things in life bigger than hockey, and I think it's amazing to see everyone coming together to pay tribute to Mr. Salming, as sad as the circumstances are.

I just lost my dad a few days ago from ALS. My dad was a massive Leafs and Blue Jay's fan, I walked by the rogers center, and Scotiabank just retraced the footsteps I took with him. When I was younger and went to those games I had sit down on the stairs just outside the rogers center and just had a moment to think of the memories of him and the good times I had with him watching the leafs and jays

Rest in peace, Borje. We watched in awe of your talent when we were children and have never stopped admiring your courage and strength. We will never forget those Maple Leaf years, it was a difficult decision to go skating or play hockey with our friends on a Saturday night or to watch the Leafs games. We've missed your presence here. Our prayers go out to your loved ones. We will always remember you. God bless you.

The past two days have been incredibly emotional at the Air Canada Centre. The sight of Darryl Sittler balling as he sees the love being given to Börje was just so powerful. It such an awful disease to attack such a beautiful man. One happier element was that three of the inductees are Swedish, a testament to thBörjee long term impact of Börje.
