@wisewolftony5 сағат бұрын
@@MGSDude01 I get that he hasn't been good but not sure how on earth you could blame any of this loss on him. The Wings were trying to do their best impression of the Sharks defense from 2023 in this game. 2nd goal they are on a PP and decide to have 3 guys run to Eklund who is no threat to do anything with the puck besides kill time. Yet they all race over to him like he's about to have an amazing scoring which leads to Sturm getting a pass and being wideopen to the point that he had all day to dangle Husso and wait for an opening for any easy goal. 3rd Goal was the Wings 5 on 5 defense just falling asleep. Allowing Eklund to just walk in back door for an easy tip in goal. 4th goal horrible PK defense by the wings Toffoli on the entry pass is completely cut off by the first man to him who knocks him to the floor. Yet 3 Wings go over to him like he's somehow still a threat in that spot. Puck goes to Celebrini who hits a wide open Granlund who makes an amazing move and roofs the puck on the backhand. 5th goal was just as bad Holl having all sorts of time and space decides to skate the puck in front of his own net something you should never do holds onto it for ages allowing Toffoli to poke it away and then the puck come right back to him for an easy goal that Husso could do nothing about. So 4 of the 5 goals Husso let in were a direct result of some of the worse team defense I have seen in a game since the 2023 Sharks made an artform out of it last year. Hell even the first goal was by no means a soft goal Holl losses the puck again leads to a point blank great chance for Smith who gets the rebound passes back to Rutta who takes a pretty good hard wrist shot that was right on the bar and down low. Husso would have had to be in a great position to make that save. Which is hard to expect when just 2 seconds ago he had to make a point blank save which means he needs to regather himself and reposition himself for the next shot which takes more than 2 seconds to accomplish that.

@@devinporter532 Blaming the defense made sense during Seider’s rookie season when they had Ned and were giving up goals against a 3 on 0 breakaway (that even Andre and Igor wouldn’t hope to be able to stop), but our defense is good enough now that the excuses for bad goaltending are getting thin. That first goal by SJ came by bad goaltending because Husso gave too much space in a tight window. That happened twice this game. I expect better than that. That’s not to say the defense was perfect because they weren’t. But the whole point of having a goalie is to stop the puck from getting in a net. If you can’t stop a puck from 1 player that already has a bad scoring angle, that’s on the goalie. I get 2 man breakaways and such, but this is unacceptable

Is Husso an issue? Very much so. Is Holl also an issue? Absolutely. But as far as Husso goes, you can't have all 4 or 5 guys go for or wait for the puck and leave a player open. 99% of the time a goal will be scored. It does not matter who the goalie is.
@wisewolftony5 сағат бұрын
Hope they continue to roll with the "That 70"s line" as they looked pretty dangerous on Saturday even though they didn't get a goal. But today they looked great again and had 2 goals. Just nice to see Celebrini having good offensive talent on his line. I mean Smith has shown flashes but for the most part has struggled to put it together yet which is no issue at all some kids take a few years like Eklund. And then usually other than Smith they would also have someone with very little offensive talent beside them. Now with Toffoli he has a lethal shooter on the ice with him who any time he gets his shot on net it's either a goal an amazing save or hitting the pipe. And Eklund is just a great all around talent who can score from Celebrini setups or help set up Celebrini. Also means that teams can't as heavily focus just on stopping Celebrini which they could really zero in on him with some of the previous lines he's been on. Also think him and Eklund have great chemistry together. And would love to see them continue to expand on that as they could be a lethal set of linemates for the next 10 years together. Also gotta give Graf some love I know he hasn't produced that many points so far. But just been really impressed by his all around game on both ends. Didn't know much about him before just that he put up points in college so figured he was mostly a scorer. But he's been making a lot of nice plays on defense and battling hard in other areas. Something Smith has struggled with so far and was why he was recently benched for a game for not doing enough of those small things that help a team win.
