I bet Boston regrets passing on him THREE TIMES in the 2015 draft. That was comedic. If Boston drafted other guys like Thomas Chabot, Brock Boeser, Kyle Connor, Travis Konecny, Joel Eriksson Ek, or Vince Dunn they would've won at least two Stanley Cups. It is absolutely hilarious that Boston passed on ALL those guys with THREE CONSECUTIVE PICKS in the first round of the 2015 draft.

Matthew Baral knows what the Islanders have to do to turn things around like try to limit injuries, have a good start and have a good defensive team, score more and don't chase other teams. And among others. You can say what you are going to do but you have to make it happen, Easier said then done. But the Islanders have a plan and now they have to apply it this upcoming NHL season. Good luck with your team's plan to turn things around for the Islanders.

He's a good kid with a ton of talent, and hasn't reached his true potential. Very likeable, and despite a first-round loss to the Hurricanes, I think a full season of him and a settled in Horvat, he could be a 25-65-90 guy at last. But, they need a power play coach desperately .

Absolutely.!! JT calls him "the kid who won the Calder" after he left then Barzy doesn't acknowledge JT during his tribute at the Coli. Something is definitely going on there. My guess is that JT, being the self-centered guy he is didn't like Barzy stealing some of his thunder in his rookie year and it carried over.

Man, I feel bad for Barzal. He's clearly a talented player who could be elite, but he's on the Islanders so he has no one on his level to play with. And probably never will. If he signs an extension with the Islanders, he will be making the biggest mistake of his career. The Isles have maybe one more year of overachieving left tops, especially without Trotz. And their prospect pool is garbage. He'll probably spend the last 6 years of his contract out of the playoffs.
@danielkrall65012 жыл бұрын
The irony of this statement is that the same thing was said ad nauseum about Pajama Boy 4 years ago. Since then, the Islanders have won 7 playoff series, and Toronto's mon capitaine has won zero. Just sayin'. History truly does not line up with your statement.
@anonimuso2 жыл бұрын
@@danielkrall6501 Actually, history perfectly lines up with my statement. At least if you're paying attention to it. I said specifically that the Islanders overachieved the last few years, mainly because of Trotz. In the nearly 25 years before Trotz became head coach, the Islanders won one playoff series. ONE. That's over two decades of ineptitude. They had the same type of structure with Tavares that they do with Barzal, a single elite draft pick surrounded by mostly average NHLers (because that's all they can get). But Tavares spent more years outside of the playoffs than inside. The difference is Trotz worked miracles because he is a great coach. It has very little to do with the Islanders team which, even when they did well the last two years were one of the oldest teams in the league with the lowest offensive numbers.
@bryanh57012 жыл бұрын
@@anonimuso He’s literally been to 2 conference finals in the first 5 years of his career in NY lol
@anonimuso2 жыл бұрын
@@bryanh5701 Well yeah, that's the point I am making. When Trotz came in, the Islanders started overachieving to the point that a team that had been completely irrelevant for decades was suddenly the talk of the NHL because NOBODY expected them to do anything. And if Barzal isn't careful, he could end up wasting his whole career with a team that will never be able to put any elite players around him because nobody ever wants to sign with the Islanders. That is evident from the last decade of free agency. And you can only overachieve with old average players for so long. And, as good as Barzal is, he can't carry a team by himself. Certainly not to a Cup.

Are the Islanders getting any younger? Then they cannot and will not turn it around. They may be able to catch lightening in a bottle one year and compete for a playoff spot, but I don't believe it will go any farther than that. Sorry Islanders fans those are just objective facts about your club.
