The Nylander goal was a crazy sequence. Hintz gets a breakaway and is stoned by Woll. Hintz recovers rebound behind the net, Matthews runs into him and kind slew foots him. Matthews then passes it over to Marner who gets tripped by the ref in the corner. Woll makes another save, rebound goes to Marner who is just picking himself up from the ice and makes a pass to Matthews who draws 2 defenders and sauces it over to a streaking Nylander. Just crazy stuff.

Sorry JD, but you are just wrong about the Tavares contract. He may GET 6M, we cannot pay him that amount. If they pay him that # at his age, it will be a HUGE mistake! (Unless it is a 1 year deal). The ONLY scenario where I give him $6M is if he plays lights out on playoffs and he was a huge part of them going deep. Paying big money off regular season success is not what the leafs can afford to do anymore. You two are right about a lot, but are dead wrong about that take.

We need Tavares to take like $4M or we might lose Knies or any new pieces we acquire from trades. McCabe & Woll make a combined $5.51M more starting next year. There goes any extra cap space from the cap going up. Plus we need to extend Marner still.

They will have more money then that. Contracts coming off the books besides Marner and Tavares is/ Pacioretty, Hakanpaa, Murray, Myers, Lorentz, Mattinen, A Nylander are all unrestricted. Lots of RFA's also / Timmins, Dewar, Hildeby, Holmberg , Robertson, and a few others that are with the Marlies. They should be able to fit it in. 4 million would be good though. The way he's been playing though who knows what he'll get.

With Nylander on Matthews line Marner has someone else to pass and shoot with. Don’t get me wrong I like Knies a lot. But loading up the top line is not a new concept. I thought they looked good. Yes some bad plays here and there but they looked dangerous. I have been waiting years to see them put them together for an extended period. You put elite talent together and some magic can happen. Watch what happens when the Oilers put McDavid and Draisaitl together. You cannot tell me it’s not the same concept. If M/N/M can generate chemistry look out. To me Matthews looks like still not playing healthy. He doesn’t shoot the puck at all like last season. Nylander looked not great this game either. Now imagine all three playing at their best at the same time. You got game situations where this combo can work.

I want this line to work so badly but sadly, it will never work with berube. First thing he says is “don’t get cute” 😂 so annoying. He needs to realize this isn’t the Blues lol sorry buddy but you’ve got 3 all stars, guess what, they didn’t get this good by playing dump and chase hockey lol he is essentially restricting them right out of the gate 😂 we’ve got 3 elite players playing together who aren’t allowed to make elite plays 😂
