Can't believe Steve forgot about the nightmare goalie carousel the Flyers had in 2018-19 when Carter Hart got called up. First team to ever use 8 different starting goalies in one season , and they broke the record in mid February. All because Hextall put way too much faith in two injury prone goalies

Flyers haven been pretty forgettable for some time unfortunately.

Hextall was gone by the end of November, so Fletcher deserves some of the blame for all the goalies the team used that year.

@@THE_bchat Eh, I'm not going to be as hard on Fletcher when he was handed a 19-year-old and several injured backups and told to stabilize things. Especially coming in at a point in the season where few if any GMs are all that interested in trading (Nov-Dec). Not like he was put in a position to succeed right off the bat, at least in that particular season. Fletcher could have handled it better sure, but imo the vast majority of the blame falls to Hextall for relying on two goalies with a well documented injury history playing anything other than backup minutes, especially when he had no intention of bringing Hart up from the minors. It was a microcosm of Hextall's biggest flaws as a GM, relying too much on the best case scenario and being too stubborn when it didn't come to pass.

The LA Kings had a couple of bad seasons where they had to sign free agent goalies too. 06-07 they had 5 goalies, and 07-08 they had 7

That Redwings goal vs. Devils/Schmid may be the MOST egregious example of: "If you're a goaltender, TEND THE GOAL" that i can imagine; usually they go behind the net to play the puck off the boards but this dump in WASNT even going around the boards in a way thats STILL not 100% guaranteed but it was dumped in hard in the air at a weird angle, leaving your net in that situation is bad enough but choosing to go BEHIND the net as if its rattling around the boards (which it wasnt) is beyond stupid.

Thanks Steve for another great video, looking forward to the year's bests videos, especially with the current shutdown. Watching that last Jonathan Quick 'dive' makes me wonder if the Panther's hand on Quick's pad might have actually been what caused him to lose his balance? If you look at his head it seems like he is reacting to something that doesn't happen, however if you look at his leg possibly being pushed it looks like maybe it was a genuine reaction of just losing his balance. It still could have been a dive, but I'm curious if anyone else caught that left hand on Quick's right leg pad and thought that could be what he was reacting to?

I watched the replays a few times over with .25 speed. IMO (not a goalie, nor have ever played) if he was reacting to that push, the move he made looked like it was more strenuous than if he followed through with being pushed there.
