Holy Ollie... Ollie Jokinen played only six playoff games - late in his career - while playing 1,231 regular season games.

The only player in league history to play 1000 games without ever playing in the playoffs is the most Buffalo Sabres thing possible.

The way the league keeps adds franchises every few years he won't be the last.

@@jeffreym.8957 adding franchises has nothing to do with it. The league started with 6 teams but not until there was 32 teams did someone do what Skinner did. Still, you’re probably right that skinner won’t be the last. Dahlin has a good chance at it.

@@stentorofsparta3576 Ummm... adding franchises has everything to do with it. If they added 32 more franchises next year only 25% of the teams would make the playoffs. When there was the original six there were four playoff teams every year (66.7% made it) unlike now with 50.0%. The more teams there are - without expanding playoffs - the more likely this outcome occurs. If Jeff Skinner had played when there were 21 teams - 16 teams made the playoffs! So of course it never happened back then. Just basic odds/probability.

@@stentorofsparta3576 I would say Chabot has a better chance than Dahlin. Or Rasmus Ristolainen, given that the Flyers aren't likely making it this year and will regress next season.

Next year playoffs - two years, a Cup! You need to have patience. It'll mean a lot more to him than those kids that win the Cup in their first year or two.

The only player in NHL history to play 1,000 games and not ONE playoff game. Imagine if he goes his entire career without playing in the playoffs.

Oh don't worry Jeff Skinner won't be the first to play 1000 without a playoff game if Gary Buttman has his say, he'll just add another 5-10 teams to areas where no one really cares about hockey(AKA more south US cities.
