This is preparation for the BGT down under in similar conditions where Indian batsmen have ALWAYS suffered against pace and seam. Both Rohith Sharma & Gautham Gambhir had read the pitch perfectly (they both were on the pitch pre-match and Rohith was wearing his spikes testing out the conditions where it was confirmed that it would be like pitches in Australia). Great wake up call for team India who are aiming to win the WTC cup and they will definitely bounce back to win the series as well as in the BGT down under. Mark my words. 🎉

There is nothing wrong with having chosen to bat. There was always a possibility of the opposition putting you to bat. Team India has consistently failed in the WTC finals when rain has been around.
