Sportster Iron 883 Tank Lift with Coil and Key Relocation [DK Customs Kit]

I did a 2 inch tank lift on my Harley Iron 883 with also the Coil and Ignition Key relocation. The tank lift kit was from DK Customs. It's suggested to use EZ Fuse tape for the wires. See links below for where I bought the tape.

Suggestions for doing these mods: -Don't use the silicone wire wrap stuff. 3M electrical tape is quality, and even with some residue, easier to remove later on then silicone. Also, silicone is far thicker which means more obvious wire looms. -Route your throttle cables ABOVE the tank mount point up front. Use the under-frame metal strap to secure the throttle cables as close to the throttle body. Keeps the cables tight to the frame. -When you do the wire tuck, keep the front lower cable harness tight to the neck of the frame, and run it UNDER or beside the frame. You'll barely see it there, and the wiring will follow the frame better where everyone has a loop up front hanging out. -When doing the harnesses to the bars and headlight, detach all the connectors (mark one of the turn signal pairs- both sides are same plug) and run them to top of frame, but make sure there's enough slack at the bars and headlight turn-to-turn. Get these wires high and be careful when reinstalling the tank- you need to feed the cables between tank ear and top of frame. -Don't bother wrapping cables on top of frame. They are already mostly wrapped, the connectors should be loosely set in place on top of frame. The only places you have to wrap are the ignition/coil wires, and the main harness where the wrap ends under the back of the tank. Don't try to remove the intake/injector harness, just leave it on the left side and strap it and the main harness with one zip tie. -You should only need five zip tires and about 4 feet of electrical tape to do this right and have everything managed.

I am thinking seriously about that setup but I want 1.5” Problem is my stock bars are in the way. So I have to either replace the bars or get a riser before a tank lift will work. I could do the relocate anyway, but want to do it all at once. Dude I have the 1finger clutch and it’s the best mod I’ve done! That or shocks? But that clutch is a hand saver! You have to relocate the turn signals first if you haven’t already. Never mind I see you have already. You’ll love that clutch.

Keep an eye on your key. The rubber bushings for the coil pack and ignition might help a lot, but my ignition is cutting into my key (I don't have the bushing, haha). But, bike is looking dope as hell!

Good stuff bro! The lift looks clean! I also did a 2inch lift. Benefits aside from the looks, it helps with cooling the engine. Better airflow. You and I almost have the same set up! I think next I want to swap out the rear shocks. I have a tank bag in addition to my swing arm bag.

Got my 2" dk custom tank lift kit in today and the threads on the lift kit is super long. I think they sent me the wrong ones... So disappointed. Was really looking to get these installed.

Hey on your handlebars did they come with the bike or did you replace them and if you did did you have to replace any of your cables or brake line ?

Great video, man. Any update in how your ignition is doing being mounted up there? My buddy just installed the same one a few days ago. I went with Kinetic Motorcycles Ignition relocation which attaches it essentially to the top of your primary, just under your seat. I’ll try to get a video up of the install.

It's been working great so far. They suggest that you don't have a keychain with a bunch of heavy keys on it. I just have a light weight one.

Hey man, is that the HD turn signal relocation kit you have installed on the bike? Also, do you think they would interfere at all with the Memphis shades road warrior fairing?

Yup it's the HD signal relocation. It's kinda annoying to adjust actually cuz you have to take it all off every time, but once it's adjusted good it's fine. Not sure about the Memphis shades. Watch my vids and see if it looks like it'll be in the way or not 😬

At Harley’s site it shows a picture all the way to bottom out and yours are at the top near headlight is why I ask. I’m modifying my girls 883. I like your setup a lot! Just got the 1fngrs and realized I needed to relocate cuz the new perch doesn’t allow it to be mounted.
