Even if he spoke in Hindi, what’s wrong about it. During various PCs in Europe for CL or otherwise, spanish or portuguese managers or players speak in their own language rather than English, no one makes a fuss about it.

And you are whinging about both media! The unnecessarily impacted party here is Jadeja, so the Indian media highlighting that isn't "whinging". Jadeja should be allowed to focus on his game, and not these stupid shenanigans - he is a cricketer and not a public speaker, so all this video is highlighting is the equation between media and players, and not between the media themselves.

English is a foreign language.....nobody can force people to speak in one particular language. By the way English is not the original language of Australia. History will tell you the fact.

I don't agree with the Aussie media's drama here. But if history is your reference, all humans migrated from Africa to other parts. People who call themselves natives of any place outside of Africa are wrong, as they are merely the first immigrants (again, if history is the framework of this discussion). The identity of "Australia" is totally British, so English is still the official language of Australia - without the British immigrants, there is no Australia. Any other interpretation of history is just wokism impacting current perceptions. But this seems to be bad judgement by some media figures, as I have never seen the Aussie media sledge on linguistic aspects.

He can speak in Hindi, but he should have also spoken in English considering that the opposition media is Australia and speaking in English is good for marketing the sports in Australia. Note that cricket in Australia is not very famous like in India. In Australia, rugby , Australia footy, AFL football are more famous. So as a opposition team it is better to speak in English so that atleast the media can bring the news to the Australian people so they can have more interest or atleast have the current interest.

Hindi is not our national language. And speaking in hindi in a foreign country is like a stupid thing to do. Having said that, i also heard this was a specific indian media press conference but i also hear the indian media asked the aussie press to stay back and after all this, they (indians) refused them an opportunity to ask questions to jaddu. This might be due to shortage of time but atleast they could let them ask one question. What's the big deal 🤝

It is the Indian media who is sensationalizing this issue, the Indian media manager invited all media for a chat with Jadeja but he gave chance only to the Indian media to ask questions in Hindi, when the Australian media tried to ask questions( which could possibly be about Ashwin) the media manager ended the interview and Jadeja walked away, the Australian media was furious because they were not allowed to ask questions, for that the manager replied this interview was only for traveling media, and so the Aussie media told him not to call them if an interview happens only for traveling media, because it was simply wasting their time listening to a language they don't understand. Now the Indian media is blowing this out in the air, but indeed it is the Australian media has right to feel offended on how they were treated and turned back, imagine if the Australian team is here and the Indian media was not given a chance to ask questions to an Australian player, will they go out simply, no they will start projecting the Australian players and media as atrocious in their channels. The Australian media never pesters any sub continent player to answer questions if they don't know English, in this case the Australian media as clearly stated that Jadeja speaks English and it would have been courteous if he had taken couple of their questions.

Labelling Jadeja as incompetent in speaking English is absurd. His English interviews are extensive. Most desi players, since Rahul Dravid, do not speak impeccable English, so linguistic capability is not the issue here. In fact, the Hindi spoken by many players today is, what can I say, mediocre at best. Rana is incomparable to the legendary "rockstar," so the argument is irrelevant. Guests not allowing the hosts to ask questions is inexplicably ludicrous. It shows a lack of grace and courtesy to not welcome even a single question. It is embarrassing, especially considering the "ten-minute" press conference lasted approximately eight minutes before Jadeja left. It's there for everyone to see, so one cannot escape it. Late arrival for the press conference is disrespectful to journalists and the media and therefore it is unacceptable and should not happen in today's professional world. Using that as an excuse is truly embarrassing. People expect better journalism than this.
