Spot on biodiversity - Spring is in the ... is underwater! - Sint-Denijs, Februari 15th of 2024

15 februari 2023, de temperatuur liep makkelijk op tot 15°C vandaag. Alhoewel er de voorbije dagen geen echt waarneembare trek van amfibieën was bleek de poel in de weide al bruisend van het leven. Tientallen padden, tientallen kleine watersalamanders en alpenwatersalamanders waren reeds driftig de lente aan het vieren. De padden hebben al minstens 4 pakketjes eiersnoeren afgezet! Een eerste poging tot 'onderwater-film' is niet helemaal gelukt, maar toch al een voorproefje.
February 15th of 2023, the temperature easily went up to 15°C today. Although there had been no real noticeable migration of amphibians in recent days, the pool in the meadow was already bustling with life. Dozens of Common toads, dozens of Smooth newts and Alpine newts were already enthusiastically celebrating spring. The toads have already deposited at least 4 packets of egg strings! A first attempt of 'underwater filming' was not entirely successful, but it is still a foretaste.
