The fake pro controllers now have the 1:1 box as well. So you cant rely on just the box. If its real it will scan amiibos, if its fake it won’t

How can you tell the difference?

There are so many fake pro controllers out there. I bought one that was the same price as an official Nintendo one, packaging was EXACTLY the same, molding was the same, but the control sticks and the rumble motors were awful. I opened it up and found that the control sticks were glued down (they aren't in the official) and the rumble motors were so small, they didn't even fill the spot for them molded into the controller plastic. Definitely far from HD rumble. The fake even had the secret message under the control stick. If you're worried that your controller is fake and aren't confident enough to open it, pay really close attention to the rumble. If it feels like a bad phone vibrating and doesn't reproduce the "vibration motor sound" it's probably counterfeit and you should get a refund.

It’s funny, your comment was more informative than the entire 10 minute video I just watched. The boxes are also a giveaway to the authenticity and not in an obvious way like the video stated. Stay away from the “Japanese imports” or any with Japanese characters on the box because these are (in my experience) always knock offs. They are almost identical except that they lack amiibo scanning ability, don’t have the same rumble feel, and they actually weigh less. Stay away from Japanese writing on the box, this is an easy way to tell when buying online.

Is my pro controller fake? It has amiibo and everything my other real pro controller has but it has one weird difference, the rumble is a little stronger, I assume it's because it's newer than my older pro controller.

@@slushie64 Only way you can really tell is by opening it up and checking. It's super easy. The switch pro controller is one of the easiest controllers to disassemble and put back together imo

I’ve actually have seen fakes with the Nintendo branding. When the fakes first came out none of the had the Nintendo branding, but now some of them do so it’s a lot harder.

@@etthelost what you got to look for is the US box, all of the “Japan import” ones are fakes, I’ve bought 2 already thinking they were real, also the left handle should have a 7 digit serial number on it, doesn’t matter witch edition it is they all have that, the 2 fakes I had bought and returned didn’t have it but looked spot on other wise, and behind the right joystick should say “thx2allgamerfans!” On the pcb if you pull the stick down and look through the see through circle around it you can see onto the board, they fakes have an m in “thx” not an H, and they put a “L” not a !

Kind of odd, as even when collecting it is still technically used? I believe it so when he resells it. He can claim new, when it not. Reason why I only buy from Nintendo, or major stores only when it comes to new items. A lot of sellers that scam people.

Your wrong my friend, all of the pro controllers say “thx2allgamerfans!” Behind the right joy stick if you pull it down and put a light up to it you can look through to the pcb. Also all of those come as fakes with the logo, but they are “Japan imports” and the box has Japanese writing on it, so you just have to be very vigilant, I’ve been buying these for awhile and modding them, they have gotten really good with the fakes now, they have the serial number on the left handle, and say the Easter egg behind the right joystick but the font is different and most have a m instead of an h in thx and they have an “L” instead of a !

I have the Xenoblade pro controller! It looks so cool. It's easy to get in my country because most of them are import from Japan (my Xenoblade pro controller box is in Japanese). Pro controller left stick will drift too if you play alot of game like Splatoon 2. My first pro controller was the original version. After the stick drift, i bought the Xenoblade version. Edit: 1 month ago i bought a refurbished Splatoon 2 pro controller, which is just half price. The refurbished controller are fine if you just play something like Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing or Pokemon but definitely not for Splatoon because the motion control is not that good (8/10).

Favourite - Xenoblade 2 Controller Use - Standard Black (unless I have people over, I won't force guests to use Joy-Cons) Super worrying to hear the Switch Lite is starting to drift already, what a nightmare. Since it's a special edition I wonder if they would have the appropriate colour analog sticks on hand to replace if you sent it in for repair, or if they would just stick the standard black/gray ones.

From my understanding the fakes use the same official shells as the one in the official box one. The motherboard is different so if you would just have to swap the boards

Except you won’t get that Switch logo on top and if you’re a Nintendo collector, the box is a must. Not to mention the shells are slightly cheaper than the actual. I’ve bought the black knock-off and I can tell it’s different.

I own multiple of each controller and the shells from China are official Nintendo products, must’ve been taken from the factory

i'm honestly REALLY mad with the one i got because when i found one i thought it was an official one because the website that i got it from was saying that it was official and not made by a third party company but when i got it immediately knew it was a fake because the XYBA buttons weren't green and the D-pad wasn't green either and the big cross on the controller was a darker green and they also charged me the price of a xenoblade controller at least it taught me to do research before buying

I bought a bootleg version of the Splatoon controller from Ali Express knowingly just to see how good it was. It does work pretty well, for the price. It looks very much like the official one! The biggest issue I noticed was with the joysticks - they had a lot of dead space. I could tell my character in Skyrim was at a full run before the joystick had reached the edge of the case. The biggest issue seems to be the longevity, though. Never had an issue with an official Pro Controller. But the L button no longer works on my fake one, so now it just sits alone in a drawer... Maybe someday I’ll pull it out and try to fix it!

I totally agree that it’s a missed opportunity to not have more special editions!! Or even just more standard colors! And how cool would it be for them to have a website where you can go and choose each handle, the backplate, faceplate, and even button colors for your own custom controller! I know you can do this through third-party customization websites, but they’re not cheap... While we’re at it, how about Joy-Con colors? Why can’t America get a website like Japan has where you can order a custom bundle and choose each Joy-Con and strap color?? There have got to be plenty of people out there that would love to be able to pick and choose their colors like that! I know I would! I think Nintendo has done a pretty good job with the alternate colored controllers that they have put out, but they’ve really dropped the ball in terms of giving us customization and options. Too few special editions, and no color customization... It’s such a bummer!

I would love to see a Monster Hunter Rise Pro Controller! Nintendo has always supported Monster Hunter special edition harware (such as the multiple 3DS's) and I think a pro controller with dark blue grips/back would look amazing to match with the symbol on the cover of the game. EarthsGeomancer That game in all stars collection for 3D Mario requires gyro aiming. I saw a video of someone using a PS4 controller on the switch and PS4 controller actually has motion controls built in so you can play that game with PS4 controller
