Both of the equipments are suited for different purposes, really. I personally use scope only when I'm in an open area or near a wetland to observe distant waterbirds. Its field of view is pretty narrow for observing anything nearer. It's an amazing tool for identification tho. For forest birding, my 8x37 or 10x42 binoculars do a good job.
