SPQQ is a decent game... but I prefer Clash of Spears skirmish rule set. Much simpler and far less "dice heavy". Just personal preference though... as I found nothing wrong with playing SPQR.

Did not like Clash of spears to many fiddly rules, I feel clash is even more abstract IMO
