Hot take: dark pulse s3t is good and imo better than dark void set. It's a little confusing at first, but the combo is quite simple: shadow claw and immediately dark pulse. The first attack from dark pulse is very quick, and then you wait to see what your opponent does and jump to them. This should proc the sleep mark from shadow claws first hit, amd once you pop out use your boosted and shadow claw again. This combo is very effective, trust me. The reason spragels amd other KZbinrs struggle is because they play on switch, while I'm on phone. Phone is kinda just better especially for technical pokemon like darkrai. The problem is that combo doesn't deal enough damage, the other moveset deals almost and even more damage and has lower cooldown, longer range and you can actually keep chaining the combo, which means it's more consistent. Dark Pulse Shadow Claw is better only when you use Unite.

I actually think Dark Pulse Shadow Claw is better than people think it is. It's more of a laner than a jungler, and it lanes very well with Sing Wigglytuff or Yawn Snorlax and can deal more damage than you'd expect. Plus the invulnerability can be quite good, especially in large teamfights. I agree that it's not as good as it could be, however it's better than people think.

Shadow claw dark pulse feels like it would make more sense if you could mark opponents with shadow claw while in dark pulse. Honestly, it might be a bug. It feels like dark pulse could be a little shorter too, you can dodge so much with it.

@@BENHUR. It's fine. You can't make it do a lot of damage cause it's uninteractive. It's one of those flawed designs, it's either annoying or broken, so keep it just annoying. Maybe just make it a little less clunky but not too smooth. The problem is that it's a combo attack that he enemies can't interact with, so if you make it smooth there's just no counterplay to it. The fact that it's kinda slow and you have to be predictive about it is what balances it. Now shadow claw, that one is trash and they definitely need to do something about it.

People complaining about mimikyu going invincible for 1 second, then darkrai gets a move that makes it invincible for 8 seconds and every goes "meh". If you think dark pulse is bad you have zero game sense. Of course it doesn't oneshot and it's hard to time right. It needs to be. You can't make it easy because it's uninteractive. It's a combo attack that opponents cannot stop in any way, so the difficulty needs to be on using the move itself. Also a note about the unite move. Rather than using it to one shot an attacker, I've had a lot more success using to isolate a support or defender during a teamfight. Even if you can't always kill them, you are removing them from the fight for 8 seconds, making it a 4v4 where the opponents are missing either their defender or support, and we all know how those fights go.

Mimikyu's is bad because it lets you do 1/4 to 1/2 of someone's HP off of a teleport that can be off screen OR assassinate while invincible and run further than any Pokemon can dash with a little map awareness. Ceruledge, our other invincible ghost type, gets to pop in and out of the ground, apply a 60% slow, lower its cooldown, and heal with bitter blade. This is on top of the fact that they are both All-Rounders with more base HP to work with. Darkrai's is clunky and leaves him with no way of escaping once the invincibility wears off with the set that does any damage. Unlike Mimikyu and Ceruledge it has no real bonuses to speak of. It's a big move with plenty of uses, but your claim that there's no way to stop the combo is just false. Plenty of Pokemon can just dash out if they're in one of the edge circles. Mons with resettable or stacked dashes can dash out from the center. Mons that can gain shields while becoming unstoppable/hinderance resistant will ignore it. You can hit them once, maybe, but then what? Once you drop your invincibility Darkrai is a sitting duck until it resets. Not to mention that, even if you dodge a big attack with your invincibility, their cooldown will likely be up by the time you get out. Mimikyu and Ceruledge don't worry about that *because* their moves only last a second. It's a quick dodge, attack, and counter with bonus status effects while they opponent can't do anything. Darkrai's takes too long to do this, has no bonuses, and does too little damage unless you're hitting the best case scenario every time you use it.

As a Darkrai grinder, the more you play it the better it gets and the more combos that you find out with insane damage output. Edit : and Yes it also melts Defenders and Supports, especially with Unite Move

Hoopa unite-ing in Darkrai’s nightmare to bring its allies in would thematically be possible as Hoopa’s rings are capable of hopping through dimensions. Would be hilarious, too. Possible in unite? I doubt the devs went that far so no.

This moveset is really intressting as Dark Void enables this ranged playstyle that cycles around sleep constantly. Shadow Claw + Nasty Plot also seems pretty strong if you stack SpAtt Specs due to scaling, This moveset is more melee focused but has tons of burst. Dark Pulse feels too slow right now, Enemies have a lot of time to escape while Darkrai isn't able to follow up but maybe there's something I'm missing.

The weirdest thing about this release is that ‘dark pulse’ clearly should have been called Dark Void. The mainline games have a void open up that puts enemies to sleep. I’m not seeing anything particularly ‘voidy’ about this move in Unite. With a slight animation tweak it could easily be made to appear more ‘pulsey’ and oh hey look we’ve just solved the problem! Now to make the other move set actually function, because damn it has so much fun potential…

Yes cris and spragels tried it hella on stream and its 1st move is too weird to hit and inconsistent.. ESPECIALLY when trying to hit multiple enemies. Meanwhile dark void instantly hits every enemy in the moves range thingy. Haven't even seen the video but I have seen hella of their streams these past 2 days and I know for sure spragels finna say dark void/ nasty plot 😂 the 3x boosted on every enemy is just too strong

This is my personal opinion but.. I feel so disappointed with this release. Feels mid/low on strength, presence, and health. His attacks are so basic and lack cool effects compared to others that have attacks with awesome effects even if are also basic at its core (i.e. Armarouge, Pikachu, Greninja, etc), with the exception of Shadow Claw. I feel that Dark Void could’ve been made better in terms of visuals, and Dark Pulse doesn’t even work the way they made it seem in this game compared to the Pokemon games, at all. And Nasty Plot.. I mean, a 2-3 feet dash with the simplest animation I have ever seen in a character in Unite when it comes to dashing. Why didn’t they use Shadow Sneak or something similar instead? Like in the movie where Darkrai becomes a shadow flat on the floor and is able to move fast and quickly appear in other places. Darkrai is so vicious and fast as a character in the anime and games, but here he seems to be some sort of Speedster/Support/Attacker kinda hybrid, doesn’t feel anything like the Pokemon I love so much in the games, and it moves sooooo slow. I waited nearly 2 and a half years for the devs to bring this Pokemon into the game.. for this awful representation of an amazing Pokemon be the final product..
