Sprats have vanished! Nice few herring for the market. Beach boat sea fishing for food and bait.

Well the old chap went off on the ebb to get the last of the tide. He shot 1 fleet of herring nets and the sprat seine. He got a nice pick of herring in the herring nets, but the sprat seine was virtually barren. He got around 2 kg of sprats. We now think the sprat season is now over until next winter.

Smashing to see your dad going out and coming back with some fish. Don’t rush back to work,the doctors will tell you when you can do a bit of work. Don’t go at it like a bull in a china shop as most people who do regret it. Take care.

Cheers, yes, I’m getting better all the time, it’s great to be able to do things I couldn’t a week or so before. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m back out on the water

Evening Ray, hope you are well. It was a cracking day today, you couldn’t have got any better. It was so clear, my dad said he could see the windfarm 25 mile off the coast. Just see the blades. The herring are worth so little soon, that the boats have to catch plenty just to keep ticking over. We usually pack in. Take home is 22p kg. Not worth doing it for that! Ok if you trawl and just pour them in boxes

@@CaisterStu1062 They arent that low at the moment. I would bet the herring that wof have are the selected ones we put on the market. Also our sprats too. Ive seen their pics with our talleys on the fish. Give them their dues, they pay top money to get the best for their customers. They arent afraid of spending it.

Eh up buddy looks lovely the sea and beach this morn nice u live close enough to have a stroll dwn sorry to here the old fellas ball had deflated hahaha steady catch shame about sprats going I know u enjoy them are hearing there all year or do u try for other species when they've gone crabs lobster or something

Hahaha the herring with thicken up now until about the end of April. Then gone to late September. When the water colours up they will be back. In the summer we try for trout, bass, crabs, lobsters and a few mackerel.

Oh still something to go at then no way u can go for flattys or anything with yr boats I seen bigger boats put big weights on their net's to drag along bottom suppose yr limited with smaller boats cheers buddy steady as u go

Its only sole that are the only flat fish worth catching here, dabs and flounders arent worth anything, just sold as pot bait most of the time.

It’s one of them things mate. I’m not sure, I’m feeling better and getting stronger all the time. I suppose I better wait until my first check at the hospital!
