People sometimes get upset when they see videos like this because they say a house needs to breathe. They think I am going to create a mold problem. In this video, I'd like you to please take notice of the Air Changes Per Hour after sealing the house. The inside living environment drastically changed with better comfort and indoor air quality, but the house is still plenty leaky and can "breathe."

If your home has spray foam, especially closed cell foam, you should have a HRV or ERV installed. It brings in outside air through a heat exchanger, which is significantly better than just opening a window as far as heat loss. An HRV will tend to increase humidity during the summer, while an ERV will help control it, so for most areas, an ERV is the best choice. Our new home has Zip-R12 sheathing and closed cell spray foam between 2x4 studs in a one story home (R30) in zone 6. Our blower door test was around 2. Our energy bills are low.😊
