Excellent video. In my limited experience, spray-on finishes are not helpful around a tightly fitted competition pistol. Paints change tolerances and have what I've heard called "stiction" wherein the stuff has a drag effect any place it rubs against another part. Spray-on color does look cool though.

I have found the black oxide on the Freedom Series to be tough and nice looking. But then I think old G.I Parkerizing is gorgeous.

I so far have been very pleased with Duracoat, even the aerosol can diy Duracoat, and my current carry gun I did with gloss dura-blue in blue black color. Duracoat loves a parkerized base. If you don’t have a heat gun, you will need an oven, and not the oven you feed your family from I stress, or at bare minimum a hair dryer. Hair dryer is worst case scenario however. Clean parts, heat parts to warm/slightly hot to touch, then spray. Clean with alcohol and one of those nylon tooth brushes for guns. It’s also worth the effort to follow up the day after with Duracoat clear if you want a gloss or matte, because it will naturally be a semigloss on its own ---> Also people in a blue state such as myself have to go through massive contortions just to send a gun off for chrome/np3/ etc. it’s like buying your same own gun all over again for any work you need to send it off to do. Wastes time/money, etc. it blows goats....

If you want color Cerakote has my vote When Done Correct not some steel wool and brake clean bullshit and for those of us that shoot competitively and work on our guns more than we have to it give you more options for more changes the evil cycle

It is a spray on style finish, it has its place if people want different colors on their parts. But as all spray on finishes, they will wear more quickly than finishes such are Nitro Carborizing(Fusion black-Shield) or HD Chrome.
