Sir...I tried this same method again and again...and came across same problem... Keeping the bottom line 5 cm. Problem is that after Hexagon... I found a gradual increase in to sides of the polygon... In case of heptagon... 2 Upper sides 5.2 cm. In case of octagon... Top most side was 6.1 cm. Please do reply for the same.

In my opinion there are two methods which work unless necessary angle is not constructable with ruler and compass 1. We construct isosceles triangle with angle between legs equal to the central angle in the circumscribed circle 2. We construct external angle (supplementary to internal angle)
