Not to be rude or seemly “biased” but I think the reason why people take jokes more seriously than they did a decade ago is because a lot of comedians base their jokes on stale or overused 1. Stereotypes or 2. Tragic incidents. To get upset at someone because they don’t find your 1. racist joke or 2. rape joke funny is somewhat laughable and intolerable. Personally for me I enjoy comedy that doesn’t single out certain group and isn’t based on dry stereotypes or stigma. Comedy like that is very hard to find in today’s world because as it seems, a majority of comedians base their jokes on things that aren’t considered funny and are considered overused, such as rape, sexism, derogatory stigmas, stereotypes, etc. This is my personal view on why people consider comedians now-a-day as “heartless” or “idiotic” in certain light.
