Spreading My Roots (2023) - a 16mm Short Film

An experimental film shot on 16mm about moving into my first apartment 𓇢𓆸 holding onto memories like leaves on a branch until autumn comes around and leaves us with empty walls for something new to be painted.

This was my first time shooting on color negative film and hand processing it myself, which I totally fell in love with the process of and all of its imperfections. The result if my not cleaning the film as well as I needed to towards the end of the roll led to creating the texture of a tree trunk.
A big thank you to Maya Seri for helping me film this project! And to my Experimental Personal Filmmaking Class at Emerson College. Also feel so happy to use music for indigo by Adrianne Lenker, which has sung me to sleep in so many spaces. I hope you enjoy "Spreading My Roots" :-)
