Yamete is more polite. Yamero is kind of command people to stop. If Yamete is "stop doing that" then Yamero is something like "fucking stop doing that right now!!".

My name is Muhammad Naufal bin Noorizan 止めろ (yamero) is known as the Command Form of the base verb 止む (yamu) which means “to stop”. The Command Form is extremely rude and harsh. It’s actually rarely used in real life Japan. It would be like shouting “STOP!” in an extremely harsh tone. 止めて (yamete) is a different conjugation called the Te-form or Connective form. It has multiple meanings and use cases but in this case it’s being used to give directions to someone else. It’s closer to something like “please stop”.
