Wow really nice. I am also in Germany doing balcony gardening. In the main top box of your balcony - kind of along the railing - you had a lovely mix of plants stuffed in there. How much thought did you have to put into having quite so many in one long pot? Are there certain varieties that do well with such dense planting or can you generally just bang them in there and hope for the best? I am asking because I thought I did well with narcissus & tulips in vaguely close proximity but your video has opened my eyes to other possibilities!

Hi Joseph, thank you for your lovely comment and hello to a fellow balcony gardener! To be honest, I've done lots of experimenting over the years and I've found that because the bulbs aren't staying for long in the pots, they are fine when they're planted tightly together. It just creates a better display. My goal to to grow as many plants as possible on the balcony so I always overplant! I always recommend trying things out for ourselves, there have been so many times where the balcony plants were much tougher than I expected them to be and even did things the textbooks say they shouldn't! As long as we provide them with enough water, good soil and the right sunlight, I think we can get away with planting them a bit closer together. Hope that helps!
